At least one clad bead extends circumferentially about the blade body on the bottom surface adjacent the outer edge of a second hardness greater than the first hardness of the base material. Various bead patterns are possible.

A seed tab for a seed boot having a seed passage extending from an inlet to an outlet includes a tab body and a tab tail. The tab body has a mounting arrangement at a first end and a laterally outer edge. The tab tail extends from the tab body to a second end and has a laterally outer edge that extends laterally outward of the laterally outer edge of the tab body. A laterally extending edge extends between the laterally outer edge of the tab body and the laterally outer edge of the tab tail. The seed tab is configured so that, when the tab body is connected to the seed boot at the mounting arrangement, the tab tail extends downwardly behind the outlet of the seed boot.

A seed delivery system housing contains a transport mechanism for moving seed along a seed path through the delivery system housing. A wear liner may include a wear liner insert extending along a portion of the seed path within the delivery, the wear liner insert including a wear surface interposed between the transport mechanism and the seed delivery system housing to protect at least one of the seed and the seed delivery system housing from wear. In certain embodiments, various features of the liner may extend outside the seed delivery system housing, to further protect the housing.

A brush conditioner is described for a seeding machine that moves seed along a seed path with a brush belt having free brush ends and attached brush ends. The brush conditioner may include a conditioning member with a mounting portion and a conditioning portion. The mounting portion may be attached to the brush belt housing and the conditioning portion may angle away from the mounting portion to extend across the seed path. The conditioning portion may thereby contact a portion of the free brush ends to deflect the free brush ends toward the attached brush ends.

A belt tensioner assembly is described for a seeding machine that moves seed along a seed path with a seed-transport belt, the seed-transport belt being contained by a belt housing and supported by a fixed belt support. An adjustment mechanism may have an input member accessible from outside the belt housing and a positioning member disposed within the belt housing, the positioning member changing positions in response to user input applied to the input member. A transfer mechanism may be coupled to the positioning member and to a movable belt support, and may move in response to the change in positions of the positioning member. User input to the adjustment mechanism may vary the tension of the seed-transport belt by changing the positioning of the positioning member to move the transfer mechanism and drive the movable belt support along a centerline extending between the fixed and movable belt supports.

Left and right main hoppers offset laterally from each other on opposite sides of the centerline of a seeding machine provide an operator access area between the hoppers. A third hopper located forwardly of and between the two main hoppers has a capacity less than that of each of the main hoppers for refuge or male seed. The hoppers are sized to maximize productivity. In one embodiment, first and second hoppers communicate with downstream conduit structure, and valve structure selects one or the other of the first and second hoppers for delivery of the material. The valve structure can be operated remotely and can be map based. Alternatively, selectively blockable nozzle structure is located in the first and second hoppers. Easily changeable connector structure facilitates row pattern selection and hose routing.

An agricultural machine includes a tool bar and at least one opener/closer arrangement carried by the tool bar for opening a trench in soil. Each opener/closer arrangement includes an opener disc positioned at an angle relative to a working direction and defining a trench profile. The opener disc has an axis of rotation, a leading edge, and a trailing edge positioned adjacent one side of the trench profile. A gauge wheel is positioned generally inline with the opener disc adjacent to the trailing edge of the opener disc. The gauge wheel has a leading edge positioned between the leading edge and the trailing edge of the opener disc. A first closing wheel is positioned on a side of the trench profile opposite to the gauge wheel. The first closing wheel has a leading edge positioned between the axis of rotation and the trailing edge of the opener disc. A second closing wheel is positioned on a same side of the trench profile as the gauge wheel.

A product-on-demand delivery system applies an agricultural product, such as seed, to a field. The system includes a frame that mounts a main hopper, a splitter fitting, a primary product hose, a secondary product hose, a primary application unit and a secondary application unit. The main hopper has an air nozzle wherein an air stream through the air nozzle entrains product within the air stream and delivers the air/product to the primary outlet hose. The splitter fitting has a splitter inlet flow-connected to the primary product hose and two splitter outlets flow-connected to the application units. The secondary application unit is coupled to the primary product supply hose by the secondary product hose connected at an outlet branch. The outlet branch is connected at an angle such that a product flow velocity vector in the primary product supply hose at the outlet branch is at an obtuse angle to a flow velocity vector of product flowing through the outlet branch. The outlet branch is oriented for a vertical upward flow of air and product.

A pneumatic coupler for an agricultural seeding machine comprises a hollow tube having an inner portion and an outer portion that are separated by a radially extending flange. The radially extending flange has an inner surface adjoining the inner portion and an outer surface adjoining the outer surface. A flexible and resilient gasket is fitted over the inner portion and adjoins the inner surface of the radially extending flange. The inner portion is further provided with radially extending catches that are located on resilient axially extending tongues formed in the inner portion. When mounted to receiving apertures the catches contact the interior side of the receiving aperture and the flexible and resilient gasket forms an air seal between the exterior surface of the receiving aperture and the inner surface of the radially extending flange.

Pneumatic coupler for an agricultural seeding machine

A seed meter is provided with a stationary housing having an inlet for receiving seed and an outlet for dispensing metered seed. A rotatable circular member is located adjacent the stationary housing and forms a seed puddle there between. The circular member is provided with seed receiving cells for transporting individual seeds from the seed puddle to the outlet. An internal seed knockout assembly having a rotatable wheel drives trapped seed from seed receiving cells into the outlet.
