Drive information related to data storage drives may be exchanged or communicated among switches and hosts to allow the switches and hosts access to the data storage drives. For example, each of the hosts may provide and maintain a storage stack to access data storage on storage drives operably coupled thereto and data storage drives operably coupled to other hosts.

The disclosed technology includes an assembly of two planar expansion card cards, which provides functionality to be leveraged by an upper planar expansion card. The base planar expansion card includes a first connector A, a first connector B, a connector C, a first pass-through connector A configured to connect to the first connector A, and a first pass-through connector B configured to connect to the first connector B. An upper planar expansion card includes a second connector A and a second connector B. The second connector A and the second connector B connect to the first pass-through connector A and the first B connector pass-through, respectively. In some implementations, the second connector A and second connector B are configured for a PCI-E and the connector C is configured for Ethernet KR signals.

Method and apparatus for populating and operating a storage enclosure carrier with multiple hot swappable storage devices. In some embodiments, a carrier housing having length, width and thickness dimensions is adapted to accommodate at least one hard disc drive (HDD) having a selected HDD form factor and configured for engagement in a storage enclosure housing. A plurality of solid state drives (SSDs) each conforming to a selected SSD form factor are supported within the length, width and thickness dimensions of the carrier housing. Each of the SSDs is individually retractable from a front facing portion of the carrier housing without removal of the carrier housing from the storage enclosure housing.

The present disclosure relates to an electronic apparatus () comprising a backplane () and methods of assembling and disassembling such an apparatus. The electronic apparatus () comprises a chassis () having plural walls and a circuit board () fastened to a wall of the chassis, a surface of the circuit board having a plurality of conductive pads (). A backplane () is fastened in a received position in the chassis substantially perpendicular to the circuit board. The backplane has a connector () at an edge of the backplane, the connector comprising a plurality of sprung conductive elements () which extend outwards beyond the edge of the backplane to make electrical contact with respective conductive pads () on the circuit board.

Electronic apparatus comprising backplane and methods of assembling and disassembling

Carrier for the rack mounting of two or more data storage devices into a chassis. The carrier includes support members along the length of the carrier, to receive and retain the two or more data storage devices. The carrier further includes a single electrical communication connector to provide an electrical communication interface for all of the data storage devices in the carrier, to and from a mating connector on a board of the chassis. The carrier further includes an interposer to adapt electrical signals from the single electrical communication connector into a form that is usable by the data storage devices.

Carriers for a data storage device. The carriers comprise a support member sized and shaped to receive and retain the data storage device. The carriers also comprise one or more projecting members configured to retain the data storage device in the support member. The projecting member extends from a portion of the carrier towards the data storage device. The projecting member is retained in position by a structure selected from the group consisting of a rail and a sidewall of the support member. The projecting member can comprises a pin.
