Described is a seat track stud for attaching a passenger seat to a seat track having a first stud member, a second stud member, and a pin. The first stud member includes a base portion with at least one flanged edge, a first securing portion extending from the base portion and defining a first securing portion opening; and a second securing portion extending from the base portion at a location opposite the first securing portion and defining a second securing portion opening. The second stud member includes a connecting portion that defines a connecting portion opening and that is sized to fit between the first securing portion and the second securing portion. The pin extends through the first securing portion opening, the connecting portion opening, and the second securing portion opening.

Described is an extendable joint () for attaching a passenger seat to a cabin floor or support structure. The extendable joint () exhibits behavior of a rigid mounting during normal usage, such as when carrying or securing passengers or luggage. However, if a force threshold is exceeded, such as with an emergency situation, the extendable joint () may lengthen to absorb energy applied from the cabin floor through the passenger seat and vice versa. Additional force damping mechanisms may also be incorporated into the joint to further absorb, distribute, or reduce loadings that may otherwise separate the passenger seat from the floor or support structure.

Described are tray table assemblies having a table body () and a biasing mechanism (). The table body can be movable between a stowed configuration and a deployed configuration. The table body in the stowed configuration can be positioned so that at least a portion of the table body can be situated within a cavity () defined along a downwardly projecting lip (). The table body in the deployed configuration can extend transverse to the orientation of the table in the stowed configuration. The biasing mechanism can bias the table body into the cavity in the stowed configuration.

Tray table assembly

A safety belt () is secured to a seat structure () using movable anchor points (). In an embodiment, a y-belt () is attached to left and right pivotable anchor plates (). The anchor plates () pivot when a load is applied to the safety belt (), thus allowing the anchor points to self-align to maintain an equal amount of tension across the lower and higher portion of the seat belt. In a different embodiment, a 2-point safety belt () is attached to slidable anchors () that move within channels () in response to load applied to the safety belt, allowing the anchor points to self-align to maintain proper tension and positioning of the safety belt ().

Described are seat support assemblies comprising at least one of a pitch reducer assembly, a fitting assembly, an energy absorption assembly, and an integrated leg assembly. The pitch reducer assembly may include a pitch reducer housing, at least one pitch riser, and at least one pitch stop. The integrated leg assembly may include a forward leg and an aft leg, where the forward leg is coupled to the pitch reducer assembly. The fitting assembly may include a pair of forward housing mating components and a pair of aft housing mating components, where the pairs of mating components are coupled to the forward and aft legs, respectively. The energy absorption assembly may include a tubular member, a die slidingly coupled to the tubular member, and a die holder coupled to the die, wherein the die holder has a hemispherical outer surface that is configured to pivotally mate with a passenger seat housing and rotate about an arc of rotation relative to the tubular member.

Described are tray table stop assemblies comprising a housing comprising at least one deployment track, a force-receiving mechanism comprising at least one protuberance, wherein the at least one protuberance is slidingly coupled to the at least one deployment track, and a biasing mechanism positioned between the force-receiving mechanism and the housing. In some embodiments, the tray table stop assembly is coupled to a passenger seat assembly adjacent a tray table assembly having at least one arm. In these versions, the arm of the tray table assembly is positioned to apply pressure to the force-receiving mechanism when the tray table assembly travels between a stowed position and a deployed position. When the tray table assembly moves forward beyond the stowed position, the force-receiving mechanism is positioned within the travel path of the arm.
