An apparatus for imaging an animal includes a first mounting surface, a bed sized to support the animal and releasably secured to or integral with the first mounting surface. The apparatus also includes a plurality of straps, each having a first end in a fixed position relative to the bed and a second end for tightening around a limb of the animal. A method for in-vivo imaging of an animal includes providing an animal that has limbs, providing a first mounting surface, and providing a bed removably secured to or integral with the mounting surface and sized to support the animal as well as being coupled to a plurality of straps. The method also includes placing the animal on the bed between the plurality of straps and tightening at least two of the plurality of straps around at least two of the limbs such that the animal is substantially secured in place relative to the bed.

Method and apparatus for animal positioning in imaging systems

A detector for use in a dedicated PET scanner for cancer applications, particularly breast cancer applications, using a LSO scintillator, a lightguide coupling arrangement, and an efficient way to construct the scintillator array, which provides a flexible imaging system for breast cancer applications with high sensitivity and high spatial resolution in a compact, cost effective, design.

Apparatus and method for breast cancer imaging

A gamma ray detection and locating system comprising an array of scintillator crystals connected to a multichannel photomultiplier tube by discrete optical fibers, each fiber connecting a single crystal to a corresponding specific location on the face of the photomultiplier tube. Also described is an improved system for identifying the location of specific electrodes in the photomultiplier tube receiving electrons generated by photons flowing from the crystal along the fiber to the tube.

High resolution detector array for gamma-ray imaging

Quantitative chromatography is widely used in many fields to measure the amount of a compound present in a mixture. A series of Gaussian-like peaks are generated as output, and the size is conventionally measured by peak area or peak height determinations. The microprocessor-based analysis system of the present invention is designed to 'learn' the characteristics of a set of chromatographic peaks. Retention time and peak width parameters are used to detect and measure selected peaks by a convolution procedure based on a matched filter. The filter is applied to peaks in the neighborhood of selecting peak times which have a shape closely resembling that of a control sample. The system is built around a microprocessor with a wide dynamic range analog-to-digital conversion input stage. Operator interaction with the programs and the printing of output results is facilitated.
