A broadband multi-bay antenna array comprising an upper antenna element group and a lower antenna element group. Each of the upper antenna group and lower antenna group comprises a pair of antenna elements separated by a distance of one-half wavelength at mid-band wavelength. Radiating elements of the first antenna in each pair are positioned in a first orientation and radiating elements of the second antenna in each pair are positioned in a second orientation which differs from the orientation of the first antenna by 180 degrees (flipped over). A center feed input port is positioned between the upper antenna element group and the lower antenna element group and is electrically coupled to each of the first, second, third and fourth antenna elements.

Broadband four-bay antenna array

A ganged circulator device for isolating a transmitter and increasing the power level, isolation performance, and input VSWR performance of an IBOC combiner module is provided. The ganged circulator device includes an input power divider, a ganged circulator module, and an output power combiner. The input power divider includes a first input port, a second input port, and a plurality of output ports. The ganged circulator module includes a plurality of circulators and a plurality of load resistors. The module also includes input ports corresponding to and electrically connected to the plurality of output ports on the input power divider. The output power combiner includes a first output port, a second output port, and plurality of input ports corresponding to and electrically connected to a plurality of output ports of the ganged circulator module. An input signal is applied at the first input port of the input power divider, and an output signal is transmitted from the second output port of the power combiner. A first load resistor is electrically connected to the second input port of the power divider, and a second load resistor is connected to the first output port of the power combiner.

Ganged circulator device

A phase shift is defined as a point in frequency at which the phase is changed from 0 degrees to 180 degrees. A device is provided for combining analog and digital in-band-on-channel (IBOC) signals to feed a common antenna utilizing phase shifting allpass filter modules to provide a 180 degree phase shift to specific IBOC channels within a constant impedance dual-hybrid circuit. The IBOC Allpass combiner includes one input 90 degree 3 dB quadrature hybrid coupler, one output 90 degree 3 dB quadrature hybrid coupler, a load resistor, and two phase shifting allpass filter modules. Each phase shifting allpass filter module is comprised of a two coaxial cavity resonators coupled to a 90 degree 3 dB quadrature hybrid coupler. Components and modules are coupled using mating transmission lines. The four coaxial cavity resonators are used as devices to produce two distinct phase shifts at isolated upper and lower IBOC side band frequencies. The circuit is designed for one center analog frequency and two sideband IBOC OFDM carrier frequencies, such that all frequencies will combine in phase at the common antenna input with minimal loss and minimal group delay. Out of phase and spurious emissions are ported to the load resistor.

High level IBOC combining method and apparatus for single input antenna systems

An apparatus and method used to determine angle of inclination and the range of motion of various human joints therefrom, such as, for example, cervical flexion. The apparatus of one preferred embodiment is a computerized arthrometer which is a stand-alone automated apparatus. Output can be provided to a printer for hard copy or to a computer for storage or further manipulation of data. Each sensor or inclinometer used in the preferred embodiment employs a pair of Hall effect transducers spaced about a rotating ring magnet. The voltage output of the transducers can be evaluated to accurately determine the angle of inclination. In another preferred embodiment, instead of the magnet and transducers, the sensors can include circular sensor having six capacitive sectors, each sector changing capacitance as the circular sensor is rotated. The six capacitance values are evaluated to determine the angle of inclination. Another embodiment incorporates the apparatus into readily available 'personal computers' ('PCs'). By employing a pair of sensors for selected range of motion tests, measurement accuracy is increased by compensating for the effects of secondary motion, for example, compensating for forward or backward movement of the torso when measuring cervical flexion or cervical extension, respectively.
