A piston assembly for a compressor that reduces the temperature experienced by a compressor cup seal during operation of the compressor. The piston assembly includes a piston sleeve having a top portion and an interior. A valve plate is supported by the top of the piston sleeve. A compressor head includes a compressor head plate, which is offset from the valve plate. The offset between the compressor head plate and the valve plate defines a cooling chamber. The interior of the piston sleeve communicates with the interior of the compressor head via openings defined in the valve plate and the compressor head plate and conduit associated with these opening and traversing the cooling chamber.

Piston assembly for reducing the temperature of a compressor cup seal

A system and method for improving the efficiency of a gas fractionalization system of the type having a compressor having an inlet for receiving air from the ambient environment. The system includes a sensor for sensing a parameter indicative of the flow of concentrated gas delivered from the gas fractionalization system to a patient. A multi-positional valve is disposed in line with the compressor for regulating the flow of air from the ambient environment into the compressor. A valve control manipulates the position of the multi-positional valve depending on the value of the parameter sensed by the sensor for regulating the quantity of air received from the ambient environment into the compressor inlet.

Air flow control in a gas fractionalization system and associated method

A muffler assembly for muffling noises associated with a compressor. The muffler assembly is mounted on the compressor such that the two move as a solid body. The muffler assembly includes an intake having a hollow interior adapted to receive a first flow of gas from the ambient environment. A baffle disposed in the hollow interior of the intake restricts the flow of gas through the intake. In one embodiment, the baffle defines at least a portion of a plurality of fluid portals that separate the first flow of gas into a plurality of flows of gas as the gas passes from a first side of the baffle to a second side of the baffle. As a result, the first flow of gas is disturbed and noise from the compressor is thereby attenuated. In another embodiment, a plurality of baffles are disposed in the hollow interior of the intake to define a tortuous path for the flow of gas through the intake for attenuating noise.

Compressor muffler

A gas fractionalization system including a compressor for receiving air from the ambient environment and producing a flow of pressurized air, a gas separation system for producing a concentrated gas portion from the pressurized air, a valve for controlling duration during which the compressed air is delivered to the gas separation system during a pressurization cycle, and a product chamber for receiving concentrated gas produced by the gas separation system. The gas fractionalization system includes a control system that itself includes a pressure sensor for sensing the occurrence of high and low pressures within the product chamber, a processing system that determines the pressure ratio of the high and low gas pressure within the product chamber, and a valve controller that manipulates the valve, and, hence, the duration in which the flow of pressurized air is presented to the gas separation chamber based on the pressure ratio.

Gas fractionalization system and associated method

A multi-chamber canister for a pressure swing absorption system within a general housing assembly. The chambers include a first molecular sieve chamber for receiving a first molecular sieve for separating air from the ambient environment into a concentrated gas and at least a second molecular sieve chamber disposed within the housing assembly for receiving a second molecular sieve for separating air from the ambient environment into a concentrated gas component. Furthermore, a supply chamber is disposed within the housing for receiving air from the ambient environment and for communicating air to either first or second molecular sieve chambers.

Pressure swing absorption system with multi-chamber canister

A muffler assembly for muffling noises associated with a compressor. The muffler assembly includes an air intake having a hollow interior for receiving air from the ambient environment when the compressor is operating. A baffle is located within the interior of the intake for restricted passage of the air through the intake. A fluid portal is defined within the baffle for enabling fluid to pass from one side of the baffle to the other side of the baffle and subsequently through said air intake. An attenuator is disposed within the fluid portal for attenuating noise and the attenuator disturbs the soundwaves associated with the operation of the compressor.
