This solid bowl feeder and equipment tray assembly includes a bowl having an outer wall providing a seating rim and an inner wall defining a bowl, and an equipment tray having an outer wall providing an upper end attachable to the underside of the bowl. The bowl includes optional spray assembly mounting locations and the tray is adapted to receive various arrangements of the control equipment. The tray also includes a PC board cooperating with an accessible switch for selecting the duration of the spray.

A reversible flow thermal expansion valve for use in a heat system is disclosed wherein the thermal expansion valve includes a valve body having a flowpath therethrough with an inlet and outlet, an expansion port within the flowpath, and an expansion valve to open and close the expansion port. An internal by-pass flow path by-passes the expansion port for reverse flow through the expansion valve. A check valve in the by-pass flow path prevents refrigerant from by-passing the expansion port during regular, forward flow through the expansion valve. The check valve has a spring to bias the check valve normally closed, and a bypass port communicating between a check valve guide path chamber and a check valve outlet in order to relieve pressure in the guide path chamber and increase the flow rate through the check valve.

A differential ice sensing system and method for a cold drink beverage dispenser or the like is disclosed. The beverage dispenser has an ice bath cooling tank containing a supply of water. A refrigerated cooling surface is provided within the tank so as to freeze a portion of the water into a body of ice. The beverage dispenser has a beverage flow path which is cooled by the liquid in the ice bath. The differential ice sensing system comprises a first conductivity (or impedance) probe which is disposed in the water of the ice bath at a position where it will sense the conductivity of the ice when the body of ice formed on the refrigerated surface attains a predetermined size. A second conductivity probe is disposed within the liquid so that it is maintained in conductivity sensing relationship with the liquid. Each of the probes is responsive to an electric current supplied thereto to measure the electrical conductivity in its vicinity A system is provided for detecting conductivity differences between the first and second probes indicative of the presence of ice at the first probe and for generating a signal indicating presence of ice at the first probe This signal may be utilized to block the flow of refrigerant to the refrigerated surface when the body of ice formed has reached a pre-determined size and to initiate the flow of refrigerant when the body of ice is less than a desired size.

Differential ice sensor and method

A microcomputer-based spark ignition gas burner control system includes program logic to ensure compatibility of spark ignition and a microcomputer. The program logic provides for periodically re-defining the I/O (input/output) ports so as to negate the adverse effect of any electrical noise generated in the system. The program logic also provides, during ignition, a cyclically re-occurring finite time period during which sparking occurs followed by a finite time period during which flame detect circuit means is enabled. The system further includes a fault-tolerant spark generating circuit to ensure that sparking is inhibited during times that the combustion chamber is being purged of any combustible mixture.
