An optical interconnection module () for connecting to a media converter module () as part of a hybrid electrical-optical network () is disclosed. The optical interconnection module includes a transmitter connector (T) having transmit ports (PO(i)) and a receiver connector having receive ports (PO(i)). The optical interconnection module also has transmit/receive ports (PO(i)) that are optically connected via a set (F) of fibers () to the transmit and receive ports of the transmitter and receiver connectors using one of two port configurations. Hybrid electrical-optical networks that utilize a trunk cable () to connect the media converter module to the optical interconnection module are also disclosed.

A fiber optic adapter module and tray. The fiber optic adapter module supports fiber optic adapters for fiber optic connections. The fiber optic adapter module may be included on an extendible tray portion of a fiber optic equipment tray and selectively configured to be tilted when extended for providing enhanced access to the fiber optic adapter module. In one embodiment, an adapter module panel of the fiber optic adapter module that supports fiber optic adapters contains at least two forward facing panel surfaces angled to one another to provide more surface area for supporting a higher density of fiber optic adapters and/or for neat routing and organizing of fiber optic connections. One or more fourth flared panel surfaces may also be included on an end(s) of the adapter module panel to provide sufficient interior space for fiber optic connections adjacent or proximate to sides of the fiber optic equipment tray.

A fiber optic cable network interconnection system for installation in an interconnection apparatus. The system includes a connector package having at least one connector adapter and configured to support a portion of a connectorized cable. The system also includes at least one cable package that includes at least one length of cable and that is configured for storing a portion of the cable on substantially the exterior of the connector package. The cable package is sized to pass through the interconnection apparatus interior from the front opening to the rear opening as the connector package is inserted in the interconnection apparatus. Methods of installing the system in the interconnection apparatus are also disclosed.

Optical fiber interconnection devices, which can take the form of a module, are disclosed that include an array of optical fibers and multi-fiber optical-fiber connectors, for example, two twelve-port connectors or multiples thereof, and three eight-port connectors or multiples thereof. The array of optical fibers is color-coded and is configured to optically interconnect the ports of the two twelve-port connectors to the three eight-port connectors in a manner that preserves transmit and receive polarization. In one embodiment, the interconnection devices provide optical interconnections between twelve-fiber optical connector configurations to eight-fiber optical connector configurations, such as from twelve-fiber line cards to eight-fiber line cards, without having to make structural changes to cabling infrastructure. In one aspect, the optical fiber interconnection devices provide a migration path from duplex optics to parallel optics.

A pre-connectorized network interconnection apparatus including a housing defining at least one opening for mounting at least one adapter therein, a cable storage tray movably attached to the housing movable between an opened position and a closed position for cable access, and a predetermined length of pre-connectorized fiber optic cable maintained on the storage tray, wherein a first end of the fiber optic cable terminates in at least one connector routed to the at least one connector adapter within the apparatus and a second end of the fiber optic cable terminates in at least one connector that is routed to a predetermined location within a fiber optic network. Devices and methods by which fiber optic connectors, and the adapters associated with them can be installed upon mounting surfaces. A termination block is described that retains a number of adapters to receive fiber optic cable connectors for interconnection and/or cross-connection with other connectors or switching equipment. The termination block has a mounting footprint that is substantially identical to the mounting footprint of an electrical punch-down block, thus permitting ease of retrofitting. Slider panels are retained within bays in a base unit to secure adapters within the base unit. The slider panels are individually moveable so that each can be slidingly withdrawn from its bay for better access to the adapter secured therewithin. In preferred embodiments, removable markers are affixed to individual slider panels and a removable cover is provided for the termination block. Methods for mounting and retrofitting termination blocks are also described.

An optical fiber splice housing is provided for connection to a distribution frame adjacent to the rear of an optical fiber raceway unit. The splice housing comprises a cabinet having a front end defining a cabinet height and a cabinet width and a rear end defining a rear facing opening. The front end of a cabinet is adapted for connection to a distribution frame adjacent the rear side of the raceway member, and the cabinet height is not greater than the raceway height while the cabinet width is not greater than the raceway width. The splice housing can therefore be connected to a distribution frame adjacent to the rear side of a raceway unit without using additional vertical space in the frame and access to a splice tray mounted on the splice tray shelf can be had through the rear facing opening of the cabinet.
