A pallet is releasably attached to a car which is stopped automatically at a work station in a coarse alignment with a robotic system at the work station. A movable plate, which tends to be distorted from a given shape, is releasably secured to the car and lifted from the car at the work station, aligned in the desired fine alignment during the lifting and then clamped in place relative to a reference plane in the fine alignment relative to the robotic system to remove the distortion. The plate is later dropped by gravity onto the car in a given alignment therewith for transfer to the next work station which repeats the fine alignment and distortion removal action.

System for transferring and locating a body relative to a support

A television receiver is located on a pallet assembly via molded-in-place locating elements in the receiver base. Two elements have corresponding openings which mate with respective resilient structures on the pallet assembly to locate the receiver in two orthogonal horizontal directions about a vertical axis. A set of the elements on the receiver base abut a set of corresponding elements on the pallet assembly for positioning a plurality of spaced points on the receiver cabinet in the vertical direction in a reference horizontal plane.

A molding apparatus for molding a recorded disc includes a pair of mold plates adapted to form a mold cavity therein and a center hole forming pin slidably mounted in one of the mold plates. The center hole forming pin is larger in diameter than the hole to be formed and has a projection on its end which is of a diameter equal to the hole to be formed and a length about one-half the length of the hole to be formed. The other mold plate includes a projection extending therefrom of a diameter equal to the diameter of the hole to be formed and a length one-half the length of the hole. In the molding of the disc the projection on the center hole forming pin engages the projection on the other mold plate to form a hole in which a flash is spaced from the edges of the hole.

Apparatus for molding a recorded disc

The flash is removed from a freshly molded recorded disc by first bringing a knife against the edge of the disc and rotating the disc about its center to remove the major portion of the flash. A rotary cutter is then brought into contact with the edge of the rotating disc to remove the remaining portion of the flash. The rotary cutter provides the disc with a smooth edge and allows an accurate control of the diameter of the disc. The cutter is mounted on a pivotal bracket which is selectively moved toward and away from the disc by means of an air cylinder and piston which is connected to the bracket.
