A rigid inverted insert for mounting on the top panel of a rigid cowing of an engine welder, which cowing has a cut away opening in a top panel for allowing access to the top opening of a fuel filler tube extending from a low fuel tank to a position adjacent the rigid cowing. The novel insert has a lower wall generally to the top panel, but substantially below the top panel wherein the lower rigid wall has a central opening surrounding the filler tube to define a peripheral gap around the tube and a soft grommet or seal is mounted in the central opening and fixed to the insert.

A plow of the type used to clear snow and like debris from roadways and similar surfaces has a plastic moldboard secured to a rigid frame adapted to be mounted to a vehicle. The frame has at least one vertically extending brace member spaced from the moldboard to define a vertically extending gap between frame and moldboard. At least a portion of the gap is at least partially filled with a resilient material so that the moldboard is able to resiliently flex into the gap during heavy snow removal while preventing the gap from being filled with foreign matter including ice otherwise preventing desired flexing of the moldboard.

The dump body of a dump truck includes a tailgate having an opening through which material in the receptacle can be dispensed by an endless conveyor in the dump body, and a feedgate for adjusting the rate of discharge is removably mounted on one of the tailgate and the bottom of the dump body and has a passageway through which the conveyor belt extends and a door displaceable toward and away from the conveyor to adjust the size of the passageway and thus the rate of material discharge when the conveyor is in operation.

An anti-theft device for locking the foot pedal of a vehicle against depression toward the underlying floorboard of the vehicle comprises a base for engaging the floorboard beneath the foot pedal, a tubular body extending upwardly from said base and having an upper end spaced above the pedal arm and a slot extending from the base toward the upper end, a locking rod slidably received in the tubular body and having a hook extending outwardly through the slot and providing an upwardly open recess with said body for receiving the foot pedal arm, and a key operated lock for releasably holding the locking rod in a position relative to the tubular body in which the hook precludes displacement of the foot pedal toward the floorboard.

An improved combination hand weight and expandable baton is provided. The baton is adjustable for length and weight. The baton includes a handle section which is preferably a hollow cylindrical tube and at least one telescoping section capable of being contained within the handle section. The baton is provided with a removable end cap which has a tapered inner surface that captures a flared end portion of the interior telescoping section to provide a tight taper joint when the baton is in an expanded position. By providing different end caps, any number of intermediate telescoping sections may be placed within the handle section to vary both the weight and the expandable length of the baton.

Boat lift apparatus comprises vertically oriented upper and lower box beam track members mounted adjacent a dock for the upper track member to extend above the deck of the dock. The upper track member is rotatable relative to the lower track member, and the two track members support a boat cradle for vertical displacement therealong between a lower position in which the cradle is partially submerged in water for loading and unloading a boat thereon and an upper position in which the cradle is on the upper track member and pivotal therewith to overlie the deck. The cradle is provided with upper and lower bearing arrangements by which the cradle is supported for vertical displacement along the track members, and the lower bearing arrangement is comprised of opposed pairs of bearing blocks having planar surfaces for sliding engagement with the track members, and the upper bearing arrangement is comprised of opposed pairs of bearing rolls in rolling engagement with the track members.

A container for the sale of edible foods which, when empty, can be combined with other containers to serve as a children's toy. Each container has top and bottom ends and a laterally extending flange at the top end. The container has respective, mutually interlocking connection parts comprising pegs and complementary openings or recesses which enables a plurality of containers to be assembled together. The openings or recesses are in the flange and the pegs are on the bottom of the container, and the openings impart a clamping force on the pegs when two containers are interengaged so that the containers fit tightly together.

An inductor for inductively heating the valve seat of an engine component includes electrically non-conductive spacer pads on the inductor coil which engage the valve seat surface to establish the inductive coupling gap, and a centering nose which enters the valve stem bore and coacts with a universal coupling between the inductor and the inductor frame to provide concentricity between the valve seat and the core and to accommodate angular variations between the valve seat and the inductor frame.
