An impact-spinner wrench including a body assembly having driver impact members along a longitudinal bore, a shaft including output shaft nubs thereon that react with the driver impact members and an end that interacts with a socket. Oppositely disposed weighted handles extending from the body assembly and a handle for permitting rotation of the wrench without harm to the hands.

Impact-spinner wrench

A monolithic microwave integrated circuit is enclosed within an ionizable gas filled housing having a terminal protection device integral with the circuit's substrate. A photon generating region extends within the substrate and along a portion of the surface area of the substrate for facilitating the ionizing of the gas. First and second electrodes, in contact with the substrate surface area and disposed on opposite sides of the photon generating region, have a plurality of cantilevered protrusions extending over the surface of the substrate and equally spaced from one another forming spark-gaps therebetween. One electrode is connected to an input to the device while the other is connected to ground. When a potential difference between the first and second electrodes increases towards a predetermined value, due to high RF input energy, the photon generating region is operatively biased to emit photons, which ionize the gas, resulting in a voltage discharge across the spark-gaps to occur quickly and at a lower voltage than the semiconductor breakdown voltage.

Monolithic microwave integrated circuit terminal protection device

An high power microwave expander is provided which decreases the rise time of rf pulses. The expander is a transmission line in which internal conductors are separated and tapered to provide a spark gap with high isolation characteristics at low power. The arcing threshold of the spark gap can be adjusted by varying the internal pressure of the transmission line, injecting a gas such as helium into the transmission line and by providing free electrons in close proximity to the spark gap.

High power microwave expander for producing fast rise time pulses

A microwave rf envelope generator or pulse shaper has a main waveguide with two opposing branches connected in shunt to the main waveguide and are terminated with variable positionable shorts. The characteristic impedance of the shunted combination of the two branches equal one half the characteristic impedance of the main waveguide. An incident rf pulse applied to an input of the main waveguide is transmitted to a four way junction formed at the intersection of the two branches. The incident pulse is divided at the junction. Divided pulses are then transmitted down each of the branches and to an output of the main waveguide. The pulses traveling down each branch will have their phases shifted when they are reflected by the variable positionable shorts. The lengths of the branches are adjusted by the variable shorts so that the phase of the reflected and inverted pulses will cancel the trailing portion of the pulse transmitted out towards the output of the main waveguide. The output pulse width is a function of the time it takes the divided pulses to travel down the branches and back.

RF envelope generator

A microwave switching device replacing PIN diodes and operating at higher eeds requires reduced switching current. A field effect controlled device is utilized with no ground plane, for elimination of source-ground and drain-ground capacitance. Massive source and drain structures reduce terminal inductance. A low resistance active region provides dynamic switching capability improving over prior art devices in operating frequencies and speeds.
