An information handling system for managing equipment in a datacenter includes a display, a wireless communication interface, and an imaging system configured to capture image data from within a field of view of the imaging system. The information handling system shows the image data on the display, and provides an augmented reality overlay on the display over the image data. The augmented reality overlay locates an element of datacenter equipment that needs to be serviced. The information handling system further determines that the element is within the field of view, establishes a wireless communication link with the element via the wireless communication interface in response to determining that the element is within the field of view, and receives an instruction to service the element from a remote service system in response to establishing the wireless communication link.

System and method for remote hardware support using augmented reality and available sensor data

An information handling system for identifying equipment in a datacenter establishes a wireless communication link with an element of datacenter equipment, and receives identification information from the element. The identification information distinguishes the element from other elements of the datacenter equipment that are visibly indistinct from the first element. The information handling system further captures image data when the field of view of an imaging system includes the element, displays the image data on a display, matches a portion of the image data with an image object associated with the first and second elements, determines an identity of the element based upon the identification information and the image object, and displays an augmented reality overlay on the display over the image data. The augmented reality overlay co-locates the image object with the portion and includes the identity over the portion.

System and method for determining location and navigating a datacenter using augmented reality and available sensor data

An information handling system for managing equipment in a datacenter captures image data when a field of view of an imaging system includes a server rack, determines a bounding box of the server rack based upon the image data, determines slot locations in the bounding box, establishes a wireless communication link with an element of datacenter equipment via the wireless communication interface, determines an identity of the element based upon an identification message sent to the element via the wireless communication link, determines one of the slot locations based upon the identity, receives configuration information from the element via the wireless communication link, and displays an augmented reality overlay on the display over the image data. The augmented reality overlay co-locates a first image object associated with the first element with the one slot location and includes the first configuration information.

System and method for hardware management and configuration in a datacenter using augmented reality and available sensor data

A system and method for enabling power conservation when making placement and relocation decisions. More specifically, a virtualized environment power conservation module enables power conservation when making placement and relocation decisions within a virtual environment. The virtualized environment power conservation module assigns virtual machines among a group of physical hosts in order to minimize the net power consumption. The virtualized environment power conservation module makes use of server power profile or real time power consumption data to make power consumption aware Virtual Machine assignment decisions. In certain embodiments, a server system exposes real power consumption (e.g. System Watts, Cumulative kWh. etc.) via system management interfaces. Additionally, in certain embodiments, the server systems may expose real power consumption via standard power profiles. These systems leverage PMBus-enabled power supplies to read the power metric information.

Method for power conservation in virtualized environments

A system and method for determining fault isolation in an enterprise computing system is disclosed. A method includes automatically troubleshooting errors in an enterprise computing system that receives at an analyzer engine a status notification from a first component. In response to receiving the status notification, the method automatically selects a first analyzer policy file from a set of analyzer policy files based on the status notification received at the analyzer engine, wherein the analyzer policy file contains troubleshooting logic for determining root causes for errors. The method automatically attempts to communicate with a second component based on the troubleshooting logic within the first analyzer policy file. The method automatically determines a root cause for the status notification based on the troubleshooting logic in the selected analyzer policy file and based on information obtained in connection with the attempt to communicate with the second component.
