An ignition unit for internal combustion engines with an ignition coil having a ferromagnetic core integrated with a spark plug connector, about the main core of which is arranged a primary winding and a secondary winding surrounded by an insulating body; the ignition coil and the spark plug connector are so arranged to one another that the axial directions of the spark plug connector and of the main core of the ignition coil form at least approximately a right angle.

An adapter for gas discharge lamps has a housing comprising a socket for connection to the mains and a holder for the gas discharge lamp or low voltage lamp, wherein the series reactor, choke, transformer and/or transmitter with coil and magnetic circuit are arranged to surround the holder for the gas discharge lamp in the housing. To provide an adapter in compact form with small dimensions and low weight which can be simply made, the coil is wound as a circular toroidal coil or a polygon toroidal coil around the longitudinal axis of the adapter, while the magnetic circuit is made to surround the circular toroidal coil or the polygon toroidal coil on all sides and form locked on the exteriors of said coil.

Adapter for gas discharge lamps and/or low voltage lamps

An ignition coil (1) for internal combustion engines comprises a magnetic core (4) of the core- of sleeve type, around the main core of which the primary and secondary winding being insulatingly enveloped with a cast material is arranged, the end regions of the main core being connected with each other via a magnetic path located outside the two windings, and having mounting members attached to the magnetic core (4) for mounting the ignition coil (1) to an automobile body. In order to bring the heating of the windings to an equal level and to reduce the heating of the windings, the mounting members are formed of a mounting plate (8) with mounting surface (9) and of at least one frame member (10, 11) integrally formed with the mounting plate (8) which envelopes the magnetic core (4) in a form-locking manner. The frame members (10, 11) can be expediently placed for mounting angularly on the ignition coil (1) and are pivotable in abutment with the surface of the magnetic core (4).
