A fiber processing machine includes a roll having a direction of rotation and a clothing for carrying thereon fiber material; a cover partially circumferentially shrouding the roll; an air passage opening provided in the cover; an air guiding element bordering the air passage opening; a support for movably holding the air guiding element for varying a distance between the roll and the air guiding element; a pressure sensor for measuring a static pressure between the cover and the roll; and an arrangement for setting a position of the air guiding element as a function of the pressure measured by the pressure sensor.

Air flow regulating device in a fiber processing machine

An apparatus for regulating fiber quantities to be supplied to a carding machine. The apparatus includes a duct in which the fiber material is pneumatically advanced; a feed mechanism to advance fiber material to the duct at a variable flow rate; a regulator connected to the feed mechanism for varying the flow rate; a pressure sensor disposed in the duct; an arrangement for generating first electric signals representing actual pressure values detected by the pressure sensor; an arrangement for differentiating the first signals over time to obtain second electric signals for correcting the first electric signals to obtain third electric signals representing corrected actual pressure values; and an arrangement for applying the third signals to the regulator for varying the flow rate of the fiber material, advanced by the feed mechanism, as a function of the signals.

Apparatus for regulating fiber tuft quantities supplied to a carding machine

A vacuum device is provided for use with a textile processing machine having a rotating roller with cleaning locations. The device has a vacuum generator, a main vacuum line operatively associated with the vacuum generator, a plurality of individual vacuum lines, and a vacuum control valve. Each of the individual vacuum lines has at least one cleaning opening. Each of the cleaning openings is for positioning at one of the cleaning locations. The vacuum generator creates a first vacuum at the upstream side of the vacuum control valve when the vacuum control valve is in one operating position, and a second vacuum at the upstream side of the vacuum control valve when the vacuum control valve is in a secondary operating position. The second vacuum is stronger than the first vacuum.

Roller cleaning device having variable suction

A carding machine includes a main carding cylinder having a cylinder surface carrying a cylinder clothing thereon; a licker-in cooperating with the cylinder for transferring fiber material, including long and short fibers, from the licker-in to the carding cylinder; a doffer cooperating with the carding cylinder for transferring fiber material from the carding cylinder to the doffer; a cylinder cover extending circumferentially underneath the carding cylinder between the licker-in and the doffer; a force-exerting arrangement for applying, to the short fibers, a removing force greater than a retaining force exerted on the short fibers by the cylinder clothing carrying the fiber material; a waste outlet opening provided in the cylinder cover for discharging short fibers from the fiber material carried by the cylinder clothing; a suction hood coupled to the waste outlet opening for receiving the short fibers from the waste outlet opening.

Apparatus for separating waste and short fibers from a carding cylinder

A fiber processing machine includes a clothed roll entraining fiber material thereon; a roll cover circumferentially partially surrounding the roll and defining an annular clearance therewith; a transfer opening provided in the roll cover for admitting fiber material to the roll; a waste discharge opening provided in the roll cover for removing waste from the clearance; a fiber removal opening provided in the roll cover downstream of the waste discharge opening as viewed in the direction of roll rotation; an arrangement for generating an air stream for doffing fiber material from the roll and for discharging doffed fiber material through the fiber removal opening; an arrangement for varying a strength of the air stream at the fiber removal opening; and an arrangement for varying the extent of waste removal through the waste discharge opening.

Apparatus for removing material from a roll of a fiber processing machine

A fiber tuft feeder includes a chute; a first air-pervious surface forming part of the chute wall; and a first exhaust air chamber adjoining the first air-pervious surface externally of the interior. The first exhaust air chamber is in a pneumatic communication with the chute through the first air-pervious surface. A device-charges the chute with an air stream carrying fiber tufts. A first part of the air stream is separated from the fiber tufts by, and passing through, the first air-pervious surface into the first exhaust air chamber whereby a fiber tuft column is formed in the chute in the region of the first air-pervious surface. A second air-pervious surface forms part of the chute wall and is situated upstream of the first air-pervious surface. A second exhaust air chamber adjoins the second air-pervious surface externally of the chute interior and is separate from the first exhaust air chamber. The second exhaust air chamber is in a pneumatic communication with the chute interior through the second air-pervious surface for receiving a second part of the air stream. An air outflow opening is provided in a wall of the second exhaust air chamber and an adjustable valve cooperates with the air outflow opening for varying a flow passage area thereof.
