A wearable respiration monitoring system having a transmitter coil that is adapted to generate and transmit multi-frequency AC magnetic fields, two receiver coils adapted to detect variable strengths in two of the AC magnetic fields and generate AC magnetic field strength signals representing anatomical displacements of a monitored subject, and at least one accelerometer that is configured to detect and monitor anatomical positions and movement of the subject, and generate and transmit accelerometer signals representing same. The wearable monitoring system further includes an electronics module that is adapted to receive the AC magnetic field strength signals and accelerometer signals, and determine at least one respiratory disorder as a function of the AC magnetic field strength signals and at least one anatomical position of the subject as a function of the accelerometer signals.

Wearable physiological monitoring system

A wearable respiration monitoring system having a transmitter coil that is adapted to generate and transmit multi-frequency AC magnetic fields, a receiver coil adapted to detect variable strengths in one of the AC magnetic fields and generate AC magnetic field strength signals representing anatomical displacements of a monitored subject, and at least one accelerometer that is configured to detect and monitor anatomical positions and movement of the subject, and generate and transmit accelerometer signals representing same. A wearable monitoring system and associated method that is configured to (i) determine three dimensional displacement of the spine of a subject's chest wall with respect to the subject's spine, (ii) process the three dimensional anatomical data, (iii) determine at least one respiratory parameter associated with the monitored subject and value thereof as a function of the three dimensional anatomical data, and (iv) determine a respiratory disorder as a function of the determined respiratory parameter and value thereof.

A mounting head, a system incorporating the mounting head and a support such as a monopod, and a system including the mounting head, the monopod, and a camera enable a photographer to tilt a monopod or other camera support while maintaining a substantially level horizon of an image. An upper head assembly and a lower head assembly are connectable to the camera and the monopod respectively. The assemblies are interconnected by a universal joint which allows the upper assembly to remain level as roll and pitch vary. A resilient member dampens relative motion of the head assemblies. As a photographer moves the camera to capture a scene, force is transmitted from the photographer's hands via the mounting head through the monopod. The photographer maintains a level horizon as the monopod tilts. A test apparatus enables design of a resilient member for desired interaction with selected classes of equipment.

Respiration monitoring system and method

A power management system provides wireless power to operate components of a remotely adjustable gastric banding system. The power management system comprises an external power component transmitting power, and an implantable power management component receiving power and converting the power for use in powering one or more components of the remotely adjustable gastric banding system, such as a pump. The internal power management component and the external power component may be tunable. By utilizing the power management system, implantable batteries may be eliminated.

Inductively powered remotely adjustable gastric banding system

A remotely adjustable gastric band system is provided. The system includes a gastric band, an implantable fluid reservoir, and a fluid handling device including a piezoelectric pump, and a drive or controller assembly. The piezoelectric pump includes a diaphragm having a compressible spring positioned at an actuator side of the diaphragm, and a space occupying layer disposed between the compressible spring and the actuator side.

The disclosure describes a multi-mode audiometric device comprising a stimulus generator adapted to transmit at least one true random stimulus sequence to a subject's inner ear, a first detector for detecting at least one AEP signal having at least a first waveform, a second detector for detecting at least one OAE signal having at least a second waveform; a signal analyzer for analyzing the AEP and OAE signals, the signal analyzer including a first averager for reconstructing the first waveform and a second averager for reconstructing the second waveform; and a synchronizer for synchronizing the stimulus generator and signal analyzer.

A method for determining the blood constituents of a patient comprising coupling an oximeter sensor arrangement to a tissue region of the patient; passing first and second lights through the patient's tissue region for a first period of time while the venous blood in the tissue region has a first volume and for a second period of time while the venous blood in the tissue region has a second volume, the first light being substantially in a red light range and the second light being substantially in an infrared light range; detecting a red light signal and an infrared light signal, the red and infrared signals having at least first and second frequencies; computing a first ratio of the red and infrared signals at the first frequency; computing a second ratio of the red and infrared signals at the second frequency; comparing the first and second ratios to determine a first blood constituent.
