Grinding mill apparatus for grinding biomass, said apparatus including a substantially box-like steel housing having a top inlet and a bottom outlet; a plurality of anvils pivotally engaging the housing and held in a fixed position by shear pins; a rotor mounted for rotation about a horizontal axis within the housing, the rotor provided with cutting bars orbiting in close proximity to the anvils for fragmenting the biomass; and a grate system for discharging material of a desired size through the outlet of the housing. The housing includes a back wall which is integral with the side walls for reducing metal fatigue and also includes a side wall access opening with access cover for insertion and removal of the cutter bars of the rotor and insertion and removal of grate member sections. The rotor includes two or more sections, each section defining a portion of a cylinder axially offset from adjacent sections for aerodynamic reaons and for reasons of strength. The rotor includes a cavity filled with a lead-antimony alloy to increase the strength of the rotor.

Grinding mill apparatus

A high temperature gas meter provides a liquid injection means, at least one temperature sensing means located upstream from the liquid injection means and a liquid flow measuring means. Alternatively, a second temperature sensing means may be employed downstream from the liquid injection means. The meter uses the change in temperature of a gas flowing through a conduit recorded at temperature sensing means before and after injection into the gas stream of a liquid of known quantity and temperature. The flow of the gas is inversely proportional to the change in temperature recorded prior to liquid injection and after liquid injection.

High temperature gas flow meter

A hydraulic drive system includes a pump and averaging accumulator for providing a source of substantially constant pressure hydraulic fluid for reciprocal movement of a piston within a cylinder to move a load such as a sawmill carriage attached to the piston, and a high pressure braking accumulator operable to receive and hold hydraulic fluid under a pressure higher than the pressure of the pump discharge and of the averaging accumulator to conserve energy during deceleration of the piston and load at each end of the piston stroke. The high pressure fluid stored in the braking accumulator during braking is employed to rapidly accelerate the piston and load at the beginning of each subsequent stroke, and a bypass circuit and relief valve may be provided between the accumulators to convey fluid to the averaging accumulator for further conservation of energy upon excessive build up of pressure in the braking accumulator.

Hydraulic carriage drive system

A car repair station is disclosed having sequential way stations along a continuous track for the assemblyline repair of railroad cars, preferably of the Hopper type. The car passes into and under paired gantries at a second way station. These paired gantries are positioned at each end of the car and include a vertically moveable, horizontal lifting beam which moves up and down the gantry. The lifting beams have protruding therefrom a bell crank. When the bell cranks fasten to the coupler pockets and additional fastening is made to other portions of the car body the car is lifted by raising of the lifting beams and rotated about a longitudinal axis which is substantially coincident with its center of gravity. The car trucks are wheeled away through a turntable system, and the car is rotated on its side and lowered to two platforms with the gantry cranes, horizontal lifting beam, and bell cranks releasing the car. The car is then conveyed to a subrepair station on either side of the second way station where repair to the car underbody can be accomplished. Once repaired, the rotating procedure is reversed and the car is placed on refurbished trucks. Upon placement to the refurbished truck, the car is conveyed to a third way station for coupler replacement, draft gear replacement, brake reconnection and safety appliance repair.
