A programmable range of motion system has a frame, a range of motion device, a controller, a computer and sensors. The frame has a seat to support a rehab patient. The range of motion device is attached to the frame. The actuator, servo or alternate mechanism selectively rotates the range of motion device through a range of motion for a rehab patient's limb. The controller controls the actuator, servo or alternate mechanism. The computer is connected electronically to the controller. The computer has a software, program or application including a plurality of programmable range of motion movements for exercising the limb. The sensor detects movements of the actuator, servo or alternate mechanism and records data back to the computer. The term actuator as used hereafter includes servo or alternate articulating mechanism.

Programmable range of motion system

A shoulder end range of motion improving device has a linkage, the linkage including a first link member, a second link member supported on the first link member, the second link member configured for being secured to an arm of a patient and being rotatable about a second link axis for rotating the arm of the patient about a shoulder joint of the patient through an arm range of motion, the second link axis being displaceable into a selectable fixed position, the fixed position being maintained during rotation of the second link member, an actuator for rotating the second link member about the second link axis, and a controller controlling the actuator for selectively rotating the second link member about the second link axis through the arm range of motion.

Shoulder end range of motion improving device

An end range of motion improving device is disclosed including, first and second link members to independently rotate an upper leg and a lower leg of a patient, having a controller to selectively rotate the link members, and a networked computing system to facilitate communication between the controller and other networked devices.

Range of motion improvement device

A training and swing exercise device with resilient resistance is used as a training apparatus for developing greater power and strength at impact when striking a ball. The device provides impact resistance to a golfer, baseball player's, hockey player's, field hockey player's and tennis player's swing in order to develop greater strength and power at ball impact. The striking unit which pivots provides high impact absorption.

Swing enhancement exercise device with resilient resistance

In one embodiment, contaminates are removed from a material by contacting an activated carbon fabric wetted with a solvent with the surface of the material. The activated carbon fabric is maintained in contact with the surface in a substantially vapor-tight environment to allow the solvent to dissolve the contaminants, the contaminates to diffuse in the solvent, and the contaminates to be adsorbed by the activated carbon fabric. Thereafter, the activated carbon fabric containing the contaminates is removed and the any remaining solvent is allowed to evaporate. In another embodiment, contaminates are removed from a material by maintaining a solvent wetted fabric in contact with the surface of a material, while exposing at least an upper face of the fabric to a surrounding environment to promote evaporation of the solvent. The evaporation of the solvent from the upper face migrates contaminates from the surface into the fabric where they are contained.

Decontamination and/or cleaning of fragile materials

A decontamination pad includes an adsorptive/absorptive knitted activated-carbon layer exposed on a first surface, an activated-carbon fabric attached to the other surface of the knitted layer and backed up an impermeable layer. The activated carbon is saturated with a non-hazardous CWA decontamination solvent as nonspecific means of decontaminating equipment and open-wounds is provided. The pad is packaged in a sealed, disposable plastic packet. The pad is thus a simple and immediate means of personal decontamination by applying the exposed surface of the knitted layer to the surface to be decontaminated.

Decontamination system

Ultrasonic solvent cleaning processes can effectively decontaminate sensitive equipment. The disclosed decontamination liquids meet the following criteria: Ultrasonic agitation provides effective mass and physical transfer of contaminants from the surfaces of the objects being decontaminated to the bulk of the decontamination liquid. Contaminant removal occurs in three steps: removal of the contaminant from the surface of the part being processed, transfer of the dissolved or suspended contaminant into the bulk of the decontamination liquid in the immersion sump, and then removal of the dissolved contaminant by activated carbon adsorption, or suspended contaminant by filtration. Biological contaminants are also effectively removed or inactivated by immersion and sonication in decontamination fluid or solutions of a soluble surfactant in decontamination fluid. Activated carbon beds and filters that come into contact with contaminated liquid can be contained in commercially available housings that shield the system operator from any contained toxic contents. These sealable containers, and their contents, can be destroyed by standard methods, such as incineration. Spectrographic fluorimetry can detect extremely low levels (of the order of 10 ppt) of fluorescent dyes dissolved in decontamination fluid. Decontamination of sensitive equipment in decontamination fluid can be performed in commercially available ultrasonic vapor degreasers.

Method and apparatus for decontamination of sensitive equipment

A method for making a heating element adhered to a substrate by applying a photocurable composition to a flexible substrate in a pattern having one or more grid lines is provided. The photocurable composition is curable into an electrically conductive layer and volatile organic compounds are present in an amount of less than about 10% total weight of the photocurable composition. After the pattern is deposited on the substrate is cured by illuminating the photocurable composition with light for a sufficient period of time to cure the photocurable composition. Heating elements made by the method are also provided.

Heating elements deposited on a substrate and related method

A filter system including a housing with an intake and an outlet, a pleated carbon filter disposed between the intake and the outlet for filtering out vapors entering the intake, and a hydrophobic solution dispersed about the pleated carbon filter to inhibit adsorption of water thereby increasing the adsorption capacity of the pleated carbon filter especially in high relative humidity environments. The hydrophobic solution is selected so that it does not decrease the adsorption capacity of the carbon filter. Also disclosed is a method of making such a filter.

Passive filtration system

The invention provides dry cleaning liquid formulations and methods for their use based on a highly fluorinated organic solvent which contains at least one hydrogen atom per molecule, in particular, highly fluorinated hydrocarbons or highly fluorinated ethers. In a preferred embodiment the cleaning liquid contains an HFC or HFE in combination with dichloroethylene. The addition of a surfactant enhances the ability of the liquid to remove water-soluble soils.

Method of dry cleaning using a highly fluorinated organic liquid

Method and apparatus for recycling a water-displacement process fluid that includes an organic liquid and a surfactant, the boiling point of which exceeds that of the organic liquid, maintains a sufficient quantity of organic liquid such that water displaced into the organic liquid is evaporated at least as fast as it is introduced. If the water and the organic liquid are immiscible and exhibit different densities, the resulting condensate can be separated into constituent phases by decanting. The condensed organic liquid and unevaporated surfactant are then available for recycling.

Process for water displacement and component recycling

A cleaning system and method adapted for removal of small particles from solid substrates is disclosed. In one implementation, the system employs two on-line particle counters to measure particle concentrations in an incoming stream of filtered cleaning liquid, providing a baseline measurement, and in the outgoing or recirculation stream that has already made contact with the article to be cleaned. Comparison of the two measurements over time provides an accurate indication of the degree of particle removal, which is reported to the user and/or employed to control the cleaning cycle. In another implementation, the system employs a single detector that measures the magnitude of a signal (e.g., radioactivity) emitted by the particles; this signal continuously indicates the number of particles remaining on the substrate.
