To avoid undesirable electrostatic discharge events while maintaining low leakage currents, earbuds may be provided with controlled electrostatic discharge paths. The discharge paths may include discrete components such as resistors or more distributed resistive components such as resistive elastomers. A resistive elastomer may be incorporated into an interior portion of an earbud between an earbud housing structure and a ground path. A resistive elastomer may also be used in forming an ear bud tip.

Various systems of an electronic deice and methods for manufacturing the same are provided. In some embodiments, a routing assembly is provided that may not only route a cable along a circuit board, but that may also shield and electronic component or secure an electronic component to the circuit board. In some other embodiments, there is provided a mechanism for electrically coupling two components of an electronic device that may also be visually appealing in the context of other portions of the electronic device.

Systems of an electronic device and methods for manufacturing the same

Various systems of an electronic device and methods for manufacturing the same are provided. In some embodiments, a routing assembly is provided that may not only route a cable along a circuit board, but that may also shield an electronic component or secure an electronic component to the circuit board. In some other embodiments, there is provided a mechanism for electrically coupling two components of an electronic device that may also be visually appealing in the context of other portions of the electronic device.

Electrical mounting boards and methods for their fabrication and use are disclosed herein. In particular, such mounting boards embodiments utilize hybrid ground lines interconnected through a substrate core to form multilayer ground grids. Such hybrid ground lines include groups of substantially parallel ground lines configured such that the groups of ground lines are positioned in transverse arrangement with other groups of ground lines formed on the same level. Such implementations have many uses, including, but not limited to, the ability to more efficiently route signal lines and connect electrical components on a circuit board.

A cable may be provided having a noise-suppression ferrite loaded magnetic tape wrapped in a spiral. The cable may have a strengthening cord at its core. Signal wires such as data wires and power wires may surround the strengthening cord. The signal wires may have copper cores that are coated with polytetrafluoroethylene insulating coatings. A metallized polyester tape may be wrapped around the signal wires to reduce electromagnetic interference. A braided copper shield may be formed over the metallized polyester tape. The magnetic tape may be wrapped around the metal braid. One or both edges of the magnetic tape may have uncovered areas in which no magnetic material is present. The cable may have connectors its ends. The magnetic tape wrap may extend from one connector to the other.
