A horn antenna for emitting an electromagnetic HPEM microwave pulse along a central axis contains a microwave generator for the pulse having a waveguide along the central axis with a generator opening for the pulse, and a horn structure for shaping the pulse with an input opening and an emission opening for the pulse. The generator contains at least one HPEM source for the pulse. Each HPEM source contains at least two antennas for pulse components, disposed in succession in parallel with the central axis. The pulse is formed as a sum of the pulse components. A method for reconstructing a horn antenna to form the horn antenna with increased power, includes constructively increasing a number of antennas toward a respective HPEM source and orienting remaining antennas in a row relative to the first antenna, increasing the waveguide length, and keeping other dimensions of the horn antenna unchanged.

An electronic irritation device includes a plurality of electronic irritation signal modules. Each of the modules has at least one emitter for emitting optical or acoustic irritation signals, and additionally a connection device for coupling the plurality of irritation signal modules to one another and an unlocking device for automatically unlocking the connection device in order to decouple the plurality of irritation signal modules from one another and thereby distribute them spatially. Distributing a plurality of irritation signal modules makes it possible to increase the probability of an irritation effect upon deployment of a single irritation device.

A fragmentation system for electrodynamic fragmentation of material contains a feed and an outlet for transporting material along a transport path in a transport direction. At least one high-voltage pulse source is provided, each of the high-voltage pulse sources contains at least one first electrode and at least one second electrode for generating a high-voltage discharge in a discharge chamber. The transport path has a fractionation section, and the fractionation section extends through the discharge chamber. A selection device for selectively extracting the material on the transport path is provided in order to channel material and/or fragments of the material having a diameter smaller than a minimum diameter past at least one portion of one of the fractionation sections.

An electronic dazzling element has at least one optical emitter for emitting light pulses, which contains an electronic light-emitting device for generating light pulses, and a control device for controlling the light-emitting device of the optical emitter. In order to reduce the brightness reduction of the light pulses as a distance from the dazzling element increases, the optical emitter is configured to emit a collimated light beam. In order to simultaneously achieve the dazzling effect in as large a spatial region as possible, a beam direction of the collimated light beam may be changed.

For the pulse, a pulse duration of at most 500 ns, a center frequency in the range between 10 MHz and 10 GHz, and a bandwidth in the range from 10% to 150% of the center frequency is set. The transillumination signal is formed as the sum of response signals received at a measuring location. A radiation source for emitting an electromagnetic HPEM microwave pulse contains a microwave generator for generating the pulse. The generator has a generator opening for outputting the pulse. A horn structure is provided for shaping the pulse. The horn structure has an input opening, which is connected to the generator opening and is intended to radiate in the pulse, and an emission opening for emitting the shaped pulse. The generator contains at least two pulse sources for respectively generating a pulse component. The pulse is the sum of the pulse components. A radiation device contains such a radiation source and a control device for triggering the pulse sources in a temporally synchronized manner for the purpose of respectively emitting a pulse component.

A vehicle with an HPEM source has the antennas mounted in a fixed position or a support for the antennas is pivotably mounted on the vehicle. In a method for emitting the HPEM pulse, all antennas are controlled in order to select the radiation direction in the angle range of less than 360&#xb0;.

A device for generating microwaves has a plurality of separately controlled microwave generators. Each of the generators includes a resonator, each with a capacitor structure formed with two electrodes that are separated by a spark gap. A high voltage supply charges the individual capacitor structures, which can be discharged by a breakdown of the spark gap. The individual capacitor structures are charged up by way of the high voltage supply device to a voltage that lies below the breakdown voltage of the individual spark gaps. A triggering device for triggering a breakdown of the respective spark gap is associated with each spark gap and the triggering devices are individually controlled by a common control device.

A method and a configuration are provided for generating high-energy microwave pulses, in particular based on HPEM technology. The objects include, on the one hand. increasing the energy density of pulses and, on the other hand, also making the relevant appliances more compact. For that purpose, a large-area configuration of a multiplicity of, preferably non-linear, semiconductor components is used in the area of the antenna, for pulse shaping.

A microwave generator has at least one resonator with two mutually opposite resonator electrodes which are separated by a spark gap. The spark gap breaks down when a high-voltage is applied. The resonator electrodes are designed in the area of the spark gap such that they result in a two-dimensional or three-dimensional section with a substantially constant, minimum electrode separation.
