Techniques are provided for protecting a twin screw positive displacement pump, that include a signal processor that receives signaling containing information about power, torque, speed, viscosity and specific gravity related to the operation of the twin screw positive displacement pump; and determines whether to enter an enhanced pump protection mode for the twin screw positive displacement pump based on a relationship between an actual corrected tune ratio and a tuned ratio set point (Tune Ratio SP). In operation, the signal processor determines if the actual corrected tune ratio is&#x3c;=the actual corrected tune ratio set point (Tune Ratio SP), and if so, then enters the enhanced pump protection mode, else continues to use a basic pump protection mode, and also determines the actual corrected tune ratio based on a ratio of an actual corrected torque (TAcorr) divided by a tuned corrected torque (TTcorr) at a specific operating speed.

Method for twin screw positive displacement pump protection

Techniques are provided for protecting a rotary positive displacement pump, e.g., using a signal processor that receives signaling containing information about power, torque, speed, viscosity and specific gravity related to the operation of a pump; and determines whether to enter an enhanced pump protection mode for the rotary positive displacement pump based at least partly on a relationship between an actual corrected tune ratio and a tuned ratio set point (Tune Ratio SP). The signal processor may determine if the actual corrected tune ratio is less than or equal to the actual corrected tune ratio set point (Tune Ratio SP), and if so, then to enter the enhanced pump protection mode, else continues to use a basic pump protection mode, and also determines the actual corrected tune ratio based upon a ratio of an actual corrected power (PAcorr) divided by a tuned corrected power (PTcorr) at a specific operating speed.

Method for rotary positive displacement pump protection

An ultra accurate gas injection system with vehicle transient air simulation is provided. The device includes an input device, at least one mass flow device, an air flow device, a controller, such as a PC based controller, and an output device. The air flow device issues an air flow rate signal indicative of at least the actual air flow rate and receives an air flow control signal. The controller issues gas and air flow control signals, repeatedly reads the air flow rate signal and compares the actual air flow rate with the target air flow rate. The controller adjusts the air flow control signal such that the actual air flow rate is substantially equal to the target air flow rate. The mass flow device injects at least one gas into the air stream which is subsequently emitted into the external system to simulate exhaust gas from a vehicle.

Ultra accurate gas injection system with vehicle transient air simulation

An ultra accurate gas injection system includes an input device for inputting setpoint data including a target flow rate for the flow of gas into the system. The gas flows through a mass flow controller at an actual flow rate. The mass flow controller issues a flow rate signal indicative of at least the actual flow rate and receives a flow control signal. The mass flow controller is configured to control the actual flow rate dependent at least in part upon the flow control signal. A programmable controller is electrically connected to the input device and the mass flow controller. The programmable controller receives the setpoint data from the input device and issues the flow control signal, the flow control signal being dependent at least in part upon the target flow rate contained within the setpoint data. The programmable controller repeatedly reads the flow rate signal and compares the actual flow rate with the target flow rate. The programmable controller adjusts the flow rate signal dependent at least in part upon the comparison of the actual flow rate with the target flow rate, and is configured to adjust the flow control signal such that the actual flow rate is substantially equal to the target flow rate. The programmable controller issues an output signal dependent at least in part upon the flow rate signal. An output device is electrically connected to the programmable controller and receives the output signal. The output device indicates the actual flow rate.
