A method, system, and computer program product for a diagnostic heartbeat throttling are provided in the illustrative embodiments. A component, executing using a processor and a memory in a data processing system, sends diagnostic heartbeat packets over a communication link at a first rate, wherein a diagnostic heartbeat packet is a packet comprises a header, a set of heartbeat parameters, and a set of diagnostic attributes. The component detects a change in data traffic over the communication link. The component changes a rate of sending diagnostic heartbeat packets from the first rate to a second rate responsive to the change in the data traffic over the communication link.

Diagnostic heartbeat throttling

Technical solutions are described for generating a secured system snapshot of a system. An example computer-implemented method includes receiving an instruction to generate a system snapshot. The system snapshot captures data from a computer executable object loaded in a memory. The method also includes accessing metadata that is associated with the computer executable object from a mapping list. The method also includes capturing the secured system snapshot by. Capturing the secured system snapshot includes determining sensitivity of the computer executable object by comparing the metadata with a predetermined criteria, and excluding a capture of sensitive data from the computer executable object into the system snapshot in response to the metadata of the computer executable object matching the predetermined criteria. The method also includes storing the secured system snapshot.

Dynamically excluding sensitive information from system snapshot

A first component receives from a second component a set of diagnostic parameters to include in a diagnostic heartbeat packet, and information identifying a data communication protocol to be used for transmitting the diagnostic heartbeat packet. The diagnostic heartbeat packet is a packet comprising a header, a set of heartbeat parameters, and the set of diagnostic parameters. The first component sets a first diagnostic parameter in the set of diagnostic parameters to a first value, the first value being selected to detect a first soft network error condition. A soft network error condition is a network error condition that adversely affects transmission of packets having certain properties in the data communication network. The first component configures the diagnostic heartbeat packet for transmission using the specified data communication protocol and including the set of diagnostic parameters, and sends the diagnostic heartbeat packet to the second component.

Diagnostic heartbeating in a distributed data processing environment

A method for building a scalable system dump facility is provided. The method includes loading a component into system memory. The component includes a plurality of program modules. A component text range table entry is created for each component, whereby the component text range table entry includes: an address range, a component identifier, a data collection function, and a link to one or more related components. Upon invoking a system dump facility, a failing function instruction is determined, based on an address of the failing instruction. The component text range table is searched for an address of a failing function that is in the address range. Memory regions that are associated with the address range are transferred to a storage device first. Memory regions that are associated with related components are transferred next. Remaining memory regions are then transferred.

Building an intelligent, scalable system dump facility

A computer program product and a computer system for building a scalable system dump facility is provided. The method includes loading a component into system memory. The first component re-routes a synchronization message from the first component to the second component using a second communication link between the first and the second data processing systems.

Synchronizing a distributed communication system using diagnostic heartbeating

A method, system, and computer program product for improving a distributed application using diagnostic heartbeating are provided in the illustrative embodiments. An application, executing using a processor and a memory in a first data processing system, sends a registration to a component in the first data processing system. The registration requests state information for a set of member components in a distributed domain. After the application sends the registration to the component, the application receives the state information from the component. The state information includes current status and diagnostic information relating to the set of member components obtained from diagnostic attributes of diagnostic heartbeat packets received by the component. A diagnostic heartbeat packet is a packet comprising a header, a set of heartbeat parameters, and a set of diagnostic attributes.

Distributed application using diagnostic heartbeating

A first component, executing in a first data processing system, receives, over a data communication network using a first adapter, a first diagnostic heartbeat packet from a second adapter in a second data processing system. The first heartbeat packet comprises a header, a set of heartbeat parameters, and a set of diagnostic attributes. The first component determines, based on a set of values corresponding to the set of diagnostic attributes, that a soft network error condition exists in the data communication network. The soft network error condition is a network error condition that adversely affects the transmission of packets having certain properties in the data communication network. The first component stores the set of values in a state information record associated with the first component and re-routes data traffic from one link to a different link between the first and the second data processing systems.

Communication system with diagnostic capabilities

Disclosed is a computer implemented method and apparatus to secure a routing path. A local node receives a request for secure route identification from an upstream node. Responsive to receiving a request for secure route identification, the local node transmits a local node security level and an authentication key to the upstream node. The local node determines whether at least one downstream node is authentic and has sufficient security level from a second-level downstream node. The local node may then establish a socket to the upstream node.

Secure application routing

A method for securely maintaining communications network connection data is disclosed. According to one embodiment, a method is disclosed according to which a user is prompted for network element address substitution data which specifies a substitute network element address for a network element address associated with a network element of a first communications network. The network element address substitution data is then stored within a first storage element, wherein access to the first storage element outside of the first communications network is restricted. Connection monitor data associated with the first communications network is processed utilizing the network element address substitution data. According to the described embodiment, such connection monitor data processing includes identifying metadata of the connection monitor data which specifies the described network element address, and substituting the metadata with metadata which specifies the substitute network element address.
