A method for connecting an end device to a linkable computer infrastructure is provided. A device certificate is created and supplied to a user of the end device. The device certificate is input into the end device. A data link from the end device to an access zone connected upstream of functions of the linkable computer infrastructure is produced. The access zone may be selectively separated from the functions of the linkable computer infrastructure by this link. The end device is registered in the access zone using the device certificate. By access of a function from the linkable computer infrastructure to the end device registered in the access zone, this end device is identified for the linkable computer infrastructure. With successful identification of the end device, use of the linkable computer infrastructure is enabled for the end device.

Connecting an end device to a linkable computer infrastructure

The invention relates to a method for linking a terminal () into a region () of an interconnectable computer infrastructure () which is designed for a plurality of users (), said region being allocated to a user (). A user certificate () is generated for the region () allocated to the user () and is provided to the user () and/or the interconnectable computer infrastructure (). A terminal certificate () which is compatible with the user certificate () is generated, and the terminal certificate () is entered into the terminal (). The terminal () is registered in the interconnectable computer infrastructure () via a data connection (), wherein the terminal certificate () and/or a password which is encrypted using the terminal certificate () is transmitted from the terminal () to the interconnectable computer infrastructure () via the data connection () for the registration process. The terminal () is authenticated by checking the compatibility of the transmitted terminal certificate () or the transmitted password encrypted using the terminal certificate () with the user certificate () in the interconnectable computer infrastructure (), and in the event of a successful authentication for the terminal (), the use of the interconnectable computer infrastructure () is released in the region () allocated to the user ().

Linking a terminal into an interconnectable computer infrastructure

A method for enabling an oscillating crystal available in a system to be used to generate a software-realized time function, and an apparatus for implementing the method, without requiring additional hardware components, wherein a periodic interrupt signal is generated by the system-internal real-time clock, a table entry with a reference to a routine in an intra-system table is accessed upon receipt of the periodic interrupt signal and a counter is formed by the routine.

Method and apparatus for the realization of a failsafe time function

In the case of ultrasonic proximity switch systems having separate evaluation electronics and varying sensor designs, the evaluation parameters must usually be adapted to the particular sensor type. To avoid errors relating to this, it is advantageous when the system is switched over automatically when a new sensor type is connected. Previously, sensor identification has been realized through manual coding or by coupling different voltage levels to a sensor output signal. The aim is to reduce the susceptibility to faults and the expenditure entailed by this method by applying a plurality of sensors. This is achieved in that the oscillator frequency corresponding to the sensor type is indicated with the help of a counter by means of a pulse-width modulated signal, which corresponds to the pulses of the oscillator frequency that are counted according to the counter content. This counter is advantageously accommodated in an integrated circuit, with which a pulse-width modulated signal is already generated as temperature information.

Automatic sensor identification for ultrasonic proximity switches

The transmitting pulse required to operate an ultrasonic proximity switch is usually generated externally in separate evaluation electronics. This requires additional circuitry, either analog or digital circuits, or a microprocessor and associated software. In the case of ultrasonic proximity switches, which have an integrated circuit with transmitting oscillator, the generation of the transmitting pulse is performed by additional means provided on the integrated circuit for generating a transmitting clock pulse. By means of a control signal, it is possible to select between the operation with this transmitting clock pulse and a transmitting clock pulse supplied externally by the evaluation electronics.

Integrated automatic control for ultrasonic proximity switches

In an exemplary embodiment particularly applicable to the examination of the human body, for the purpose of energizing with the aim of transmission of an ultrasonic pulse, a high frequency pulse of specific duration and amplitude is in each instance supplied to the ultrasonic transducer. In spite of a substantially reduced maximum energizing voltage, optimum conditions are to be created with regard to the intensity of pulses to be radiated with a simultaneous short pulse duration, so that preferably also switches which are restricted in their maximum switching voltage can be utilized for controlling the ultrasonic transducers. This becomes possible by virtue of the fact that each ultrasonic transducer is subjected to a specifiable number of periods of a sinusoidal or sine-like oscillation with a frequency which energizes the ultrasonic transducer at its useful resonance frequency. Subsequently thereto, a stop signal, preferably an additional number of periods of sinusoidal oscillation of smaller amplitude and with a phase jump of 180.degree. is supplied to the ultrasonic transducer. After-oscillations of the transducer are thus extinguished with certainty.
