The present invention is directed to a non-adhesive covering for a shelf. In one embodiment, it includes a substantially incompressible polymer-based material with an upper surface comprising an embossed pattern, lays flat upon a shelf surface, has a thickness of 4 gauge or above, and has a PHR in a range of 28 to 42. In another embodiment, it includes a substantially incompressible polymer-based material, lays flat upon a shelf surface, has a thickness of 2.8 gauge or above, and has a PHR in a range of 28 to 42.

Surface coverings

A flexible, preferably elastic empanelled book cover () that has pocket portions () to receive the covers of a book () that is inserted therein. The cover () consists of a unitary hexagonal sheet of pliable material such as 'SPANDEX', having extended upper and lower edges, with each edge bisected by a slot () of predetermined width that extends orthogonally. Fold lines (and) form a laterally-extended rectangle, with the side fold lines () forming the lateral apices of the hexagon two triangular flap portions () of the cover pockets. The in-folded upper and lower flap portions of the hexagon are attached to each other and to the triangular side flap portions, to form the pocket portion (), with lock stitching () at the innermost juncture by the spine opening. A central top and bottom fold-over engages the spine of the book in stabilizing relation. The unitary hexagonal blanks can be economically mass produced from roll material ().

Stretchable fabric book cover and method

A book cover, formed from an elastomeric polymer material, has pocket portions for receiving the covers of a book. The pocket portions form an elliptically shaped access slot that encases covers inserted into the pocket portion and have peripheral edges that fold over and cover the top and bottom edge of the book spine.

Elastomeric book cover

An adjustable book cover () consisting of a unitary hexagonal sheet of stretchable fabric () that is preferably coated with an elastomeric polyurethane resin (). Interstices () of the fabric () are filled with at least a single layer of polyurethane resin (), creating an impermeable waterproof barrier while maintaining the elastic functionality of the book cover (). The hexagonal sheet has flap portions defined by fold lines () that delineate a laterally formed rectangle within the fabric polygon. Extended edges of the upper and lower shaped flap portions are each bisected by a slot () of predetermined depth, thus forming an access aperture () for the covers of a book when selected flap portions of the hexagon are secured together.

Stretchable elastomeric coated fabric book cover and method

A book cover (), which may be formed or molded from an elastomeric polymer material, has pocket portions for receiving the covers () of a book (). The pocket portions may form an elliptically shaped access slot () that eases insertion of the covers () into the pocket portion. The access slot () may be aligned with and parallel to the spine of the book () and contain recesses () to engage the top and bottom of the spine in a spine locking engagement. The peripheral edges () of the book cover, and also the edges () of the access slot (), may be reinforced, such as by thickening the material at these locations, for increased strength. The book cover () may have various visual effects or indicia, and may be textured or patterned, which may increase the grip of the book cover ().

An adjustable book cover () comprising a front cover () and a rear cover () that is integrally attached to the front cover (). A front cover retaining pocket () is attached to the front cover's inner surface (), and a rear cover retaining member () is attached to the rear cover's inner surface (). Attachment means () are located on the rear cover's inner surface () and the retaining member's outer surface (). The book cover () is dimensioned so that when the book cover () is placed on a book (), the rear cover's left edge () can be folded inward, which allows the attachment means () on the rear cover's inner surface () to interface with the attachment means () on the retaining member's outer surface (). The rear cover's left edge () can be folded inward various distances to accommodate books of different thickness.
