Multi-use sewing cabinet

A sewing machine cabinet is disclosed having removable legs and fold-in sides thereby minimizing the amount of storage space required. This cabinet has the added feature of a built-in, rigid, folding storage compartment. The compartment includes two panels pivotably mounted one to the other and one to the cabinet whereby the two panels, along with the cabinet top and three adjoining sides, enclose an area beneath the cabinet top in which various articles appurtenant to sewing may be stored.

A cabinet and work table for a sewing machine having a convertible work supporting bed capable of conversion from a flat work supporting bed to a free-arm bed. The cabinet work supporting surface is divided into two parts, a fixed rear work supporting surface and a laterally/vertically shiftable front work supporting surface. The sewing machine is supported in the cabinet with the work supporting bed forwardly of, contiguous with and spaced above the rear work supporting surface. The shiftable front work supporting surface may be shifted from a first position co-planar with the rear work supporting surface, wherein the sewing machine may be used in a free-arm mode, to a second position co-planar and contiguous to the work supporting bed of the sewing machine for the flat bed sewing mode, wherein the front work supporting surface augments the flat work supporting bed of the sewing machine.

Convertible sewing machine cabinet

An improved track storage system for sewing machines having means for permitting the rotation of a sewing machine 90 degrees about its vertical axis. The improved track storage system allows a sewing machine to be stored in a cabinet or enclosure whose depth is sufficient to accommodate the depth of a machine and moved onto the horizontally opened work surface leaf of such an enclosure in a position displaced 90.degree. to its stored position. The improvement is effectuated by an arrangement of tracks which are used to guide and position a plurality of guide studs fixedly attached to and depending from the bottom of the sewing machine base. Two parallel tracks are set into the inside leaf of an enclosure containing a sewing machine so as to form a guideway for moving the machine from its stored position within the enclosure to its operating position on the horizontally opened leaf of the enclosure. The tracks form an extension of a pair of tracks which are attached to the inside base of the sewing machine enclosure. An arc of track is formed at the storage enclosure end of the work leaf. The arc of track cooperates with the guide studs to permit the sewing machine to be rotated 90 degrees about its vertical axis.

This disclosure relates to cabinets and in particular to a cabinet which is adapted for use in performing textile operation in combination with a sewing machine having both flat bed and cylinder bed working capabilities. The cabinet may be opened from a stored position, in which the sewing machine is stored out of sight and the cabinet then has the appearance of a styled table or cabinet, to a first position wherein the work bed of the sewing machine is contiguous with a working surface of the cabinet, to a second position wherein the work bed of the sewing machine is in an elevated position relative to the aforementioned cabinet working surface to permit cylinder bed operation on the sewing machine and to a third position wherein a cutting board work area may be folded out from the cabinet to an elevation for permitting an operator to perform cutting operations on a material while in an operator standing position.

A cabinet and work table for a sewing machine having a convertible work supporting bed capable of conversion from a flat work supporting bed to a cylinder bed. The cabinet work supporting surface is divided into two parts, a fixed rear work supporting surface and a laterally shiftable front work supporting surface. The sewing machine is supported in the cabinet with the flat work supporting bed forwardly of, co-planar and contiguous with the fixed work supporting surface. The shiftable work supporting surface of the cabinet is laterally shiftable from a position co-planar with the fixed work supporting surface of the cabinet and the flat work supporting bed of the sewing machine to a position subjacent the flat work supporting bed of the sewing machine and the fixed work supporting surface of the cabinet whereupon the flat bed may be converted to cylinder bed use. An unexpected benefit has been noted with the cabinet work supporting surfaces at two levels and the sewing machine in either flat bed or cylinder bed mode in that the sewing machine can be used with greater comfort and effectiveness.
