A trocar site closure clip includes a generally triangular central body, a pair of arms extending from the body, and an elongated support extending from the body between the arms. In use, the clip is advanced into a patient through a trocar, the trocar removed, then the clip partially retracted to engage and pierce the patient's tissue. The biodegradable clip remains in the patient's tissue, at least partially blocking the trocar site, and degrades over time as the patient heals.

A method for segmentation of a 3-D medical image uses an adaptive patient-specific atlas and an appearance model for 3-D Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) data. For segmentation of a medical image of a retina, In order to reconstruct the 3-D patient-specific retinal atlas, a 2-D slice of the 3-D image containing the macula mid-area is segmented first. A 2-D shape prior is built using a series of co-aligned training OCT images. The shape prior is then adapted to the first order appearance and second order spatial interaction MGRF model of the image data to be segmented. Once the macula mid-area is segmented into separate retinal layers this initial slice, the segmented layers' labels and their appearances are used to segment the adjacent slices. This step is iterated until the complete 3-D medical image is segmented.

Embodiments of this invention relate to trocar site closures including a head with a plurality of arm receiving passages therethrough, an arm received by each of the passages, each passage having a discontinuity which allows each arm to be pulled inward but deters outward movement, and each arm having a grappling portion. The head and arms are inserted into a patient wound, such as a trocar site. The arms engage with tissue surrounding the wound. A pulling force is exerted on the arm proximal ends, drawing the distal ends of the arms toward the head and at least partially closing the wound. The head and at least a portion of the arms remain in the patient, and are preferably made of a biocompatible material. Embodiments of this invention also relate to an insertion device used to insert the closure into the wound and at least partially close the wound.

Trocar site closure assembly

Described are devices including stimulation assemblies connectable to a plurality of electrodes. The plurality of electrodes can be configured to connect to a spinal cord at a location below a lesion of the spinal cord. The stimulation assembly can be configured to deliver stimulation to selected ones of the plurality of electrodes when the stimulation assembly is connected to the plurality of electrodes when located below the lesion of the spinal cord. An interchangeable preconcentrator assembly for delivering an analyte to an analysis instrument. The assembly includes a housing defining an inner chamber. An inlet is in fluid communication with the inner chamber, an outlet is in fluid communication with the inner chamber for delivering fluid to the inlet of the analysis instrument, and an exhaust outlet is in fluid communication with the inner chamber. A plurality of removable preconcentrator packages are disposed within the inner chamber. Each of the removable preconcentrator packages including a microscale preconcentrator. A selectably operable valve directs fluid flow from the inner chamber into either the first fluid flow path or the second fluid flow path.
