An internal combustion engine includes an engine block, an air-fuel mixing device, and an air filter assembly. The air filter assembly includes a housing, a filter element, and a gap between the filter element and the housing. The housing includes a base and a cover which define an interior volume. The housing includes an outlet passage fluidly coupling a filtered air outlet to a final air outlet. The filter element divides the interior volume into a filtered volume and an unfiltered volume. The gap is configured to direct air in a first airflow pass before being filtered by the filter element. The filter element is configured to direct filtered air in a second airflow pass in a substantially opposite direction from the first airflow pass. The outlet passage is configured to direct filtered air into a third airflow pass in a substantially same direction as the first airflow pass.

Cyclonic air filter assembly for an engine

An internal combustion engine includes an engine block including a cylinder and a muffler assembly configured to receive exhaust gases from the cylinder. The muffler assembly includes a housing defining an interior volume and including an exhaust inlet and an exhaust outlet, and a baffle assembly positioned within the interior volume. The baffle assembly includes a plurality of chambers in fluid communication with each other. The plurality of chambers are in fluid communication with the exhaust inlet and the exhaust outlet so that the plurality of chambers are configured to cause exhaust gases to be directed through the muffler assembly from the exhaust inlet to the exhaust outlet through four passes in the baffle assembly before exiting through the exhaust outlet.

An internal combustion engine includes an engine block including a cylinder, a horizontally oriented crankshaft, an air-fuel mixing device configured to provide an air-fuel mixture to the cylinder, and an air filter assembly configured to provide filtered air to the air-fuel mixing device. The air filter assembly includes a housing comprising a first housing end portion and a second housing end portion and defining an interior volume, a filter element positioned within the interior volume dividing the interior volume into a filtered volume and an unfiltered volume, a gap between the filter element and the housing configured to allow air to flow between the filter element and the housing, an air intake, and a filtered air outlet.

Air filter

A carburetor assembly includes a carburetor, a fuel supply valve, a valve member and a normally open switch. The fuel supply valve is coupled to the carburetor housing and is fluidly connected to the carburetor. The fuel supply valve includes a lever pivotable between first and second positions. The valve member is configured to move in response to the lever such that fuel is allowed to flow to the carburetor when the lever is in the first position and fuel is not allowed to flow to the carburetor when the lever is in the second position. The normally open switch is adjacent the fuel supply valve and includes a switch actuator. The lever is configured to engage and release the switch actuator to move the switch actuator between a non-actuated position and an actuated position respectively when the lever moves between the first and second positions.

Ignition and fuel shutoff for engine

The cylinder head assembly includes a cast member, and a substantially planar member that is affixed to an upper end of the cast member. The substantially planar member includes apertures to anchor the intake and exhaust rocker studs, apertures that receive the intake and exhaust valve, and apertures that receive the push rod guides. The substantially planar member also has spring locators for the intake and exhaust valve return springs. The cast member is affixed to the engine cylinder, and includes cast intake and exhaust manifolds, bosses for receiving the intake and exhaust valves, a cast pocket for receiving the intake and exhaust push rods, and air cooling fins. A head cover is disposed on an opposite side of the planar member. The invention eliminates the need for two cast components.
