Disclosed is a boring tool resistant to vibration. There is a boring bar having a central bore at one end and a boring bar head for attachment to the boring bar at the one end. Inserted in the bore is a tuned absorber package for eliminating vibrations in the boring tool. The tuned absorber package is self-contained and is transferable between boring bars. Also disclosed is a method of reducing vibrations in the boring tool.

Disclosed is a single-pass notching and drilling tool. The tool comprises an adaptor having a first threaded end for coupling with a power source, an opposed second threaded end, an enlarged diameter portion adjacent to the first threaded end and having a first abutment face and a mediate portion adjacent to the first axial abutment face and adjacent to the second threaded end. There is also a drill portion joined to the second threaded end of the adaptor and having a second axial abutment face. The tool further comprises a notching tool comprising a body having a central bore rotatably engaging the mediate portion of the adaptor. The notching tool is freely rotatable about the mediate portion independent of the rotation of the adaptor. The axial movement of the notching tool is bounded by the first and second axial abutment faces. Disclosed also is a method of drilling a blast hole with the single-pass notching and drilling tool.

A clamping device, especially for clamping tools in a turret or the like, in which each tool is provided with radially outwardly movable clamp elements and an actuating element carried by the tool movable axially for actuating the clamp elements. The turret in which the tool is mounted includes mechanism for driving the actuating element in actuating direction and for releasing the actuating element from actuating position to release the respective tool from the supporting turret.

A power driven rotary tool having a specially constructed bearing ring spacer means adapted to oppose self-induced vibrations. The power driven rotary tool comprises an outer housing frame, a driven rotatable shaft, a set of antifriction bearings disposed between the outer frame and the rotatable shaft for support of the rotatable shaft, a bearing ring spacer means in solid contact with either the outer housing frame or the outer races of the antifriction bearing and between a set of antifriction bearings, longitudinal passageways provided in the bearing ring spacer means and rigid impact elements disposed in the passageway to oppose self-induced vibrations with a power driven rotary tool.

A method and apparatus for removing tread material from a pneumatic tire preparatory to recapping comprising a machine with a reversibly rotatable cutting disc with hardened cutting inserts located on the disc to take discrete elongate rubber chips from the pneumatic tire, thereby eliminating the usual dirt and smoke attributed to tire de-treaders.

Method and apparatus for removing tread material from radial belted tires

A method and apparatus for removing tread from tires preparatory to retreading of the tires in which a tire is mounted on a support and inflated and rotated on the axis of the tire. The tread is removed from the tire by a cutter disc which has cutting elements mounted thereon in an annular path with the annular path being presented to the periphery of the tire. The cutter disc and tire are moved relatively to cause the annular path of the cutter disc in which the cutting elements are mounted to traverse the tire from side to side and in a single pass across the tire the tread is removed therefrom. The relative movements between the tire and the cutter disc are under the control of a cam so that the proper contour is imparted to the periphery of the tire. The cutting elements mounted in the aforesaid annular path of the cutter disc are in the from of sharp edged discs of hard material which take clean chips from the tread of the tire thereby avoiding heating of the tire or the cutting elements and, likewise, eliminating smoke and dust that normally accompanies the removal of tread material by the use of a cutting device employing rasp elements therein.
