Methods of manufacturing a golf club head with one or more stiffening members proximate the face, and particularly solid rods or a plate with one or more cutouts, is disclosed herein. One method includes the steps of preparing a wax mold of a golf club head including a plate stiffening member with excess material, casting the golf club head, and machining away the excess material. Another method includes the steps of casting a golf club body, providing a plate stiffening member, providing a face component such as a face cup, tack welding the plate stiffening member and the face component to the golf club body, and welding these parts together.

Method of manufacturing golf club head having stress-reducing features

Lightweight, low-torque, composite golf club shafts with bent tips and methods of manufacturing such golf club shafts are disclosed herein. Some methods involve the use of pre-bent, rigid tubes that remain inside the finished composite shafts to support their bent tip structures. Other methods require the use of cores (which may be flexible and/or dissolvable), which support the composite shaft precursors when they are placed into forming molds to form the bent tips. These cores may be removed at the end of the bending process. Still other methods incorporate the use of bladders to provide support for shaft tips when they are subjected to molding forces.

The method includes the steps of preparing a wax of a golf club head body having at least one through-hole, a hollow interior, and at least one receiving pocket, preparing waxes of one or more stiffening members, inserting the wax of the stiffening members into the through-hole and seating its opposite end in the receiving pocket, bonding each of the stiffening members to the body with an adhesive material to form a combined wax mold, and casting a golf club head from the combined wax mold.

A golf club head comprising a body cast from a combination material comprising a titanium alloy and a graphene material is disclosed herein. The titanium alloy preferably is 6-4, and the graphene material may be graphene or graphene oxide, and may comprise 0.01-5.0% by weight of the combination metal alloy.

A multiple-material golf club head with a resilient crown structure and an improved, graphene-infused coating is disclosed herein. The crown comprises a metal support structure that is attached to the body of the golf club head and supports a composite outer layer. The golf club head is also at least partially coated with a paint film that is infused with graphene particles.

The present invention is directed to a body for a golf club head that includes structural columns or connectors, also referred to as stiffening members, and particularly a pair of solid rods, that extend between a return section and a sole section approximately parallel with a rear surface of a striking face section and parallel with each other without touching the rear surface or one another, even during impact with a golf ball. Each of the solid rods preferably is cylindrical, has a diameter of 0.050 inch to 0.200 inch, and has a length of 1 to 2.5 inches. Each of the rods has an upper end and a lower end. The solid rods preferably have a variable diameter to reduce their overall mass, such that the upper ends and lower ends have diameters that are larger than, and taper towards, a midpoint of the solid rods so that the solid rods each has an approximate hourglass shape.

The method includes the steps of preparing a wax of a golf club head body, the body having first and second through-holes, a hollow interior, and first and second receiving pockets, preparing waxes of first and second solid rods, inserting the first solid rod wax into the first through-hole and seating its lower end in the first receiving pocket, inserting the second solid rod wax into the second through-hole and seating its lower end in the second receiving pocket, bonding each of the first and second solid rods to the body with an adhesive material to form a combined wax mold, and casting a golf club head from the combined wax mold.
