An operating assembly for a casement window includes a folding crank handle and cover assembly that are located on the exterior surface of a trim piece on the sill of the window frame. The crank handle is attached to the drive shaft of the operator of the assembly in such a way that the handle may be folded down into a low-profile position in which the knob of the handle projects into a receiving pocket in the cover. An integral flap on the handle extending beyond the knob covers the pocket when the knob is received therein. Internal detent projections within the pocket yieldably retain the knob so as to provide for snap fit reception of the folded handle into its home position. Finger depressions in sidewalls of the cover on opposite sides of the pocket facilitate gripping of the edges of the handle for unfolding.

Casement window operating assembly

A casement sash locking system including locking assembly, drive assembly and lock strike that can be mounted on either side allowing the window to open from the left side or right side. The locking assembly includes a lock catch that functions to first lift the outer free end of the sash and then pull the sash to a closed position, thereby preventing drag of the sash on the window frame sill.

Casement window sash locking system

A spring powered roll type fiberglass window screen has side edges received in guide channels in which locking bars are pivotally and slidably received. In closing the screen, the locking bars are longitudinally slidable by a screen actuator which in turn causes the locking bars to be pivoted into engagement with the screen by action of a guide actuator tab engaging a cam surface on the locking bar. In opening the screen, the screen actuator moves the locking bar upwardly until it is pivoted out of engagement therewith by a guide cam surface on the guide channel whereupon the screen is free to move to a fully raised position, leaving behind the locking bar.

Rollable window screen guide locking assembly

A casement window locking system includes a rotatable locking cam mounted in the frame jamb with a window catch access opening on one side and a locking lever access opening on the opposite side. The locking lever has a U-shaped inner end which embraces the locking cam when the two members are engaged and a tab on the locking cam engages a shoulder on the locking lever to prevent withdrawal of the locking lever until a tool is used to raise the locking cam when the tool is inserted through the catch opening. In an alternative embodiment, a spring clip may be placed on top of the locking cam and it includes a shoulder for engaging the shoulder on the locking lever. The removable locking lever makes it possible to install and finish the window without the locking lever and change locking levers to color coordinate with the room interior.

A blower attachment for a vacuum cleaner including an attached member disposed over the exhaust air discharge openings that extend around the vacuum cleaner casing. The attached member includes a strap section that extends over and blocks air flow from some of the discharge openings, and a plenum section that extends over and receives the flow of air from the remaining unblocked discharge openings. The plenum section tapers from the inlet port to an air output orifice that may be connected by conventional methods to inflate any of a number of devices that require a high volume of low pressure air. Tabs extending inward from the attached member are received in corresponding discharge openings to secure the attached member to the casing in an aligned position over the discharge openings.

Blower attachment for a vacuum cleaner

A between-the-glass slatted blind operator includes an enclosure having a housing and a bottom wall. All of the gears are contained in the housing and the bottom wall is placed over the top of the gears when the operator is being assembled and being locked in place by inwardly deflected tabs on the housing side walls. The bottom wall has upwardly extending gear supports which oppose the gear supports in the housing. The bottom wall is unexposed to view when the operator is in its position of use.

Slat shade operator

An operating mechanism for a slat shade assembly of the type mounted between a pair of glazing panels of a window. The mechanism includes a sash and a pair of glazing panels which are supported by the sash. A slat shade is operatively positioned in the space between the glazing panels. An operating mechanism is secured to the surface of the window sash frame and is located between the two glazing panels. The operating mechanism is operatively connected to a selected portion of the slat shade assembly for moving the slats of the slat shade assembly between two extreme positions. An opening is provided in one of the glazing panels in a position which is adjacent to the slat shade operating mechanism. A manual control member is mounted on the one glazing panel and passes through the opening in the one glazing panel. The manual control member is operatively interconnected to the operating mechanism so that the slat shade may be moved to a desired position by the manual control member.

Operator for a slat shade assembly

A horizontal pivot window construction. The window includes a window frame having a sill, a head, and a pair of upright jambs which interconnect the ends of the sill with the ends of the head. The window sash is mounted within the frame and the sash includes upper and lower rails and upright stiles which interconnect the opposite ends of the upper and lower rails. Means are provided for supporting the window sash within the window frame for movement of the sash between a closed and locked position and an open and unlocked position. The supporting means includes means for pivotally mounting the sash within the frame for movement about a substantially horizontal axis so as to make the normal exterior side of the window accessible from the interior of the room in which the window is located. The supporting means also includes a member for vertically moving the sash between an upper position and a lower position when the stiles and the jambs are substantially coextensive with each other. The upper position corresponds to the closed and locked position of the sash within the frame. Cooperating means are mounted on the sash, on the frame, and on the vertical moving member so as to prevent sideways, front, back, upward and downward movement of the sash within the frame only when the sash is in the upper, closed and locked position.
