A polyester composition includes, based on the total weight of the polyester composition, a first polyester and a second polyester, wherein a weight ratio of the first polyester to the second polyester is 80:20 to 20:80, preferably 60:40 to 40:60; 5 to 60 weight percent (wt %), preferably 5 to 50 wt % of a reinforcing filler; and 5 to 60 wt %, preferably 10 to 50 wt %, more preferably 20 to 50 wt % of an inorganic filler having a specific gravity of greater than 3 grams per cubic centimeter, as determined in accordance with ASTM D792, wherein a molded article comprising the polyester composition has a sound transmission loss of greater than 30 dB, preferably 35 to 50 dB, more preferably 36 to 45 dB, as determined at 1,250 Hz according to ASTM E1050 using a molded disc with a diameter of 100 mm and a thickness of 3.2 mm.

A polyester composition comprising, based on the total weight of the polyester composition, a first polyester and a second polyester, wherein a weight ratio of the first polyester to the second polyester is 80:20 to 20:80, preferably 60:40 to 40:60; 5 to 60 weight percent (wt %), preferably 5 to 50 wt % of a reinforcing filler; and 5 to 60 wt %, preferably 10 to 50 wt %, more preferably 20 to 50 wt % of an inorganic filler having a specific gravity of greater than 3 grams per cubic centimeter, as determined in accordance with ASTM D792, wherein a molded article comprising the polyester composition has a sound transmission loss of greater than 30 dB, preferably 35 to 50 dB, more preferably 36 to 45 dB, as determined at 1,250 Hz according to ASTM E1050 using a molded disc with a diameter of 100 mm and a thickness of 3.2 mm.

A semicrystalline polyphenylsulfone, has the structure Formula (I) wherein n and R are defined herein. The semicrystalline polyphenylsulfone, which exhibits a crystalline melting point in a range of 215 to 270&#xb0; C., can be prepared from amorphous polyphenylsulfone using a solvent-induced crystallization method. An additive manufacturing method utilizing particles of the semicrystalline polyphenylsulfone is described.

A filament for use in forming a support structure in fused filament fabrication, the filament comprising an amorphous, thermoplastic resin further comprising Bisphenol Isophorone carbonate units and Bisphenol A carbonate units, wherein the Bisphenol Isophorone carbonate units are 30 to 50 mole percent of the total of Bisphenol A carbonate units and Bisphenol Isophorone carbonate units in the resin, and wherein the resin has a glass transition temperature from 165&#xb0; C. to 200&#xb0; C. The composition used to form the support filament exhibits a desirable combination of filament formability, printability, lack of significant oozing from the printer nozzle, and good ease of mechanical separation from the build material at room temperature after printing.

A thermoplastic composition comprising: a polymer material; and a passivated inorganic chromophore comprising an inorganic chromophore and a passivation layer, wherein the inorganic chromophore has the formula: AMM'M&#x2033;O, wherein A, M, M&#x2032;, M&#x2033;, x, and y are as provided herein, and wherein the passivation layer is derived from a passivation material comprising a polysiloxane having at least one functional group that is hydride, hydroxy, alkoxy, aryloxy, epoxy, carboxy, amino, or a combination thereof.

Thermoplastic composition including passivated chromophore

Compositions formed from a blend of polycarbonate/siloxane copolymer, polycarbonate, and polycyclohexylenedimethylene terephthalate are disclosed that provide superior performance in terms of notched Izod impact, glass transition temperature (Tg), strength after aging, ability to withstand secondary processing conditions, and in other respects. Methods for producing transparent polycarbonate articles include melting a composition at a temperature of 300 to 390&#xb0; C., extruding the melted composition to form a strand, cooling the strand of extruded composition, cutting the cooled strand into pellets, drying the pellets at a temperature of 50 to 140&#xb0; C. and injecting molding or extruding the pellets at a temperature of 300 to 380&#xb0; C. to form an article. The composition can comprise a moisture content of 0.1 to 5 wt. % and a crystalline additive having a melting point of at least 280&#xb0; C., a heat of fusion greater than or equal to 1.0 Joule/gram (J/g). The composition can be cooled to at least 20&#xb0; C. below the glass transition temperature of the polycarbonate.

Method to improve optical properties of stabilized polycarbonate compositions

Disclosed herein are methods that includes using a water-degradable (e.g., autoclavable) support material together with a high-heat build material (e.g., polyetherimide or PEI). When the support material is autoclaved for a period of time, the support material becomes brittle and then disintegrates into powder and therefore can be removed from the model or build material, leaving behind a part formed from the model material that includes features (e.g., cavities, channels, etc.) formerly occupied by the support material.

Process for manufacturing a densified polymer powder comprising compressing a polymer feed that has a bulk density of less than or equal to 240 kg/m in a roll compactor comprising at least two compaction rolls to obtain a densified polymer material, wherein a gap between the two rolls is 0.5 to 10 mm, wherein the compaction rolls operate at a speed of 3 to 30 rpm, wherein an applied pressure of the roll compactor is 0.5 to 5 MPa, and milling the densified polymer material to obtain a densified polymer powder, wherein a bulk density of the densified polymer powder is greater than or equal to 250 kg/m3.

Disclosed herein is a composition comprising a poly(arylene sulfide); a polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer; glass fiber and an optional platy filler. The polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer has greater than or equal to 10 weight percent siloxane content, based on the total weight of the polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer. The composition retains greater than or equal to 60% of the initial viscosity after being retained at 320&#xb0; C. for 30 minutes and the composition has an OSU peak heat release less than 45 kW/m2 when measured using the method of FAR F25.4 and according to FAR 25.853 (d). Articles comprising the composition are also described.

Poly(arylene sulfide) blend and articles made therefrom

A process for making an article by additive manufacture having resistance to dripping when burned comprising (1) depositing a multitude of thermoplastic monofilament strands using a fused deposition modeling apparatus in a pattern and (2) fusing the multitude of strands together to make an article of manufacture having voids therein; wherein the article of additive manufacture has (a) at least 50% of the monofilament strands oriented within 45 degrees of the long part of the axis; (b) the multitude of strands is greater than 10; (c) having a specific micro structure; and (d) is made from a thermoplastic polymer composition that is either the combination of a thermoplastic polymer with a flame retardant compound, a thermoplastic resin having flame resistant properties, or a combination of a thermoplastic resin having flame resistant properties with a flame retardant compound.

Additive manufactured items with flame resistance, process for making and process for testing their flame performance

Molded articles having a maximum thickness of 3 centimeters and including a polyetherimide composition are described. The polyetherimide compositions include 60 to 99.9 weight percent of a polyetherimide having a weight average molecular weight of 5,000 to 80,000 Daltons, and 0.1 to 40 weight percent of an aryl phosphate having a molecular weight from 500 to 1,200 Daltons, wherein weight percent is based on the total weight of the composition. The compositions have a melt flow at least 10% greater than the melt flow of the same polyetherimide composition without the aryl phosphate, measured according to ASTM D1238 at 337&#xb0; C. under a 6.7 kilogram load.

Described herein is a composition comprising a polymer blend. The polymer blend comprises 92 to 99 weight percent of a polyphenylene ether sulfone and 1 to 8 weight percent of a polyalkylene terephthalate, wherein weight percent is based on the combined weight of the polyphenylene ether sulfone and polyalkylene terephthalate.
