An online concierge system for establishing a communication session between devices using a light signal. A first client device captures video data depicting a light emitter of another client device. The first client device detects a light signal transmitted by the light emitter in the video data. The first client device extracts a handshake identifier from the light signal by decoding the light signal. A machine learning model may be used to translate the light signal into a numerical or an alphanumerical identifier. The first client device established a communication session with the other client device by transmitting a request to establish the communication session via an online concierge system. The request contains the extracted handshake identifier.

Establishing a communication session using a handshake process with light signals

A receipt capture device can collect transaction information from transactions conducted at a point of sale system by capturing receipt data transmitted from the point of sale system for the purpose of printing receipts at an external receipt printer. The receipt capture device can then send the collected receipt data to an online system for analysis. At the online system, received receipt data can be decoded from the printer-readable format it is transmitted in and used to enhance the online system's understanding of transactions occurring at a retailer associated with the point of sale system. For example, the online system can determine an approximate inventory of items available at purchase at the retailer by aggregating items recently purchased in transactions at the point of sale system.

A system and method are presented for invoking integration actions in a unified collaboration system. A client communicates with a bridging web server through a ReST. The bridging web server comprises a cloud service which facilitates communication with integration servers, which may be located on-premises. In an embodiment, the integration server(s) host a number of plugins which are capable of implementing integration actions. The bridging web server decides which action implementation is the best one to service a request. The implementation may be based on prior configuration. Routing decisions on the bridging web server may be automatically selected based on prior configuration.

System and method for configuration and interchanging of business functionality implementations

An electrolyzing system is provided for producing higher quantities of electrolyzed waters within prescribed pH ranges for optimum usage and which can be operated for producing greater quantities of alkaline electrolyzed water than acidic electrolyzed water consistent with a users requirements. The system includes an electrolytic cartridge having cathode and anode cells each comprising a pair of electrodes disposed in laterally spaced coplanar relation to each other, with a respective ion permeable membrane in spaced relation to the pairs of electrodes. The cells are separated with a common separator plate that maintains the ion permeable membranes in parallel relation with the respective electrodes and which facilitates the communication of brine solution from a brine bath to both cells. The cells further can be operate with staggered input currents and the redirection of electrolyzed water between the cells for optimum control of pH levels of the resulting products.
