A method and system are provided that analyze a first digital asset to identify a set of attributes of the first digital asset. Search criteria are then formulated, and a search is conducted. Once search results are obtained, at least one second digital asset that is substantially identical to the first digital asset is identified. Then, metadata between the first digital asset and the second digital asset is shared.

Automatic and semi-automatic metadata generation via inheritance in homogeneous and heterogeneous environments

A method and system creates a printed substrate suitable for conversion into a three-dimensional object. A template generator identifies a printing template having die line data representing a cutting path and folding position data representing a folding path. Foreground image data representative of a first image is automatically applied the selected printing template to define a target location for the first image, and also to define a second die line around a portion of the target location to form a second cutting path based on the foreground image data. A printer prints the first image onto a substrate at the target location, a cutting device cuts the substrate along the first cutting path and the second cutting path, and a scoring device scores the substrate along the folding path to generate a printed substrate that will fold into a three-dimensional object.

System and method to derive structure from image

A system and method of automatically assembling a package may include maintaining a data structure comprising a dynamic rule set for package production. A desired package may be selected for assembly. An assembly sequence may automatically be developed to create a three dimensional package from the dynamic rule set based on the desired package. The desired package may be assembled using the assembly sequence.

System and method for automating package assembly

A method, device, and system maintain a database of electronic and/or hardcopy publications within a first computerized device. The first computerized device receives from a second computerized device a request for at least one of the printable images within an electronic and/or hardcopy publication. The request has an identifier of the electronic and/or hardcopy publication and at least one page number of the electronic and/or hardcopy publication. The first computerized device transmits display information to cause the second computerized device to display one or more of the printable images appearing on the page number of the electronic and/or hardcopy publication. The first computerized device receives an image selection from the second computerized device that identifies selected images from among the printable images displayed by the second computerized device. The first computerized device provides the selected images to the second computerized device, or to a printer or print shop.

Providing access to images from electronic and/or hardcopy publications

Embodiments herein receive and fragment image data into image data fragments. Each single image data fragment comprises a complete, but lower resolution/quality image. The image data fragments are stored in different hardware devices, and a fragment table that comprises pointers from one image data fragment to locations of additional data image fragments is maintained. The first image data fragment is combined with one or more additional data fragments to produce a higher resolution/quality image.

Fragmenting image files systems and methods

Embodiments herein include a method, service, apparatus, etc., that receives initial user input comprising natural language commands that identify the initial color selection. The method displays the initial color samples or patches corresponding to the initial color selection in a two-dimensional grid and receives additional user input comprising additional natural language commands and a refined axis selection. The embodiments herein revise the initial color selection to a revised color selection based on a color change magnitude, a color change direction, and a color change property. Then, this method matches the revised color selection to the computer program colors to produce refined matching colors. These refined matching colors are displayed as refined color samples or patches in the two-dimensional grid. The axes of the two-dimensional grid can correspond to the refined axis selection and the assigned names can also be displayed on the graphic user interface.

Natural language color selector and navigator for selecting colors from a color set

A method, device, and system maintain a database of printed publications within a first computerized device. The printed publications each have one or more printable images. The first computerized device receives from a second computerized device (that is operatively connected to the first computerized device) a request for at least one of the printable images within a printed publication within the database. The request has an identifier of the printed publication and at least one page number of the printed publication. The first computerized device transmits display information to the second computerized device to cause the second computerized device to display one or more of the printable images appearing on the page number of the printed publication. The first computerized device receives an image selection from the second computerized device that identifies selected images from among the printable images displayed by the second computerized device. The first computerized device provides the selected images to the second computerized device, or to a printer or print shop.

Providing access to images from hardcopy publications

A package assembly method and system may include a processor, a more printing device, an assembly device, a knowledge base containing a structural design ontology, and a memory structure. A memory structure may contain instructions that instruct the processor to query the knowledge base to obtain a two dimensional package model based on a known three dimensional package model and a set of intents, convert a three dimensional graphic representation to a two dimensional graphic representation using a semantic structure, access a packaging rule set to obtain rules for assembly of a three dimensional package from the model, instruct a printing device to apply the two dimensional graphic representation to the two dimensional package model, and instruct the assembly device to apply the rules for assembly to create the three dimensional package.

A system for creating a package includes a processor, a memory, and computer-readable instructions that instruct the processor to receive a package description and generate content, formatting instructions, and a structural design features for a package. The system applies the content and structural design features to a substrate to convert a flat substrate into a three-dimensional package.

Package generation system

System and method for creating and processing documents with variable data is disclosed. The system provides a base set of document image data residing at a first location. The base set of document image data, such as rasterized image data or image data organized in a mixed raster content ('MRC') layer format, represents a first portion of information for a document that may not change. Further, the system obtains another set of document image data residing at a second location. The other set of document image data, which may again be rasterized image data or image data organized in an MRC layer format, represents a second portion of information for the document that may change. The system combines the base set of document image data with the other set of document image data to form a combined set of document image data for the document.

System and method for processing portions of documents using variable data

An image data storage system and associated method store, on one or more disk drives in a disk drive array, original image data for different images as well as multiple resolution levels of compressed image data for each image. The lowest resolution level image data for multiple different images (i.e., 'thumbnail' copies of images) are grouped together and stored within sectors closest to the center. The progressively higher resolution levels of image data for the same images can similarly be grouped together and stored within sectors sequentially from a first track closest to the center to a last track closet to an outer edge. Alternatively, all higher resolution levels of image data for any single image can be grouped together and stored within a same sector as close to the center as possible. This organization can significantly reduce average access time for large collections of images.

Such methods and systems, provide pictures, graphics, images, etc. related to words, phrases, sentences, etc. when a pointing device is hovered over the word or phrase to help the user to understand and remember the words, phrases, sentences, etc. being read, and/or increase the enjoyment of the user.

Image based annotation and metadata generation system with experience based learning

A method of producing a packaged uses an electronic user interface to receive a first image of an object to be packaged, along with information relating to one or more properties of the object. A three dimensional size for the object is determined, and a package is automatically selected. Based on the object properties, a packing material type is automatically determined. Based upon the size and the selected package, a packing material amount is determined.

Custom packaging solution for arbitrary objects

A client-side handheld device requests a server to convert server-side documents into a compression format prior to transmission of said documents to the client. The server retrieves and converts the requested documents to a raster image that is then compressed according to attributes based on information received from the client device in the initial document request. Instead of having to manipulate multiple formats which the original documents are in and supported by the server, the client-side device is preferably optimized in hardware and/or software to support and otherwise take advantage of the requested compression format. The compressed document is then delivered to the client device, in whole or in part, selectively or progressively over time per individual requests prior to displaying the received data to the end-user. Depending on the requested delivery mode, server-side documents are preferably compressed using wavelet compression methods, such as the JPEG 2000 standard, known in the arts. Through such a compression format, documents of sizes (in total bytes) exceeding one or more Megabytes can be compressed down to as small as 30 kilobytes or less.
