The present disclosure pertains to a system for delivering a humidified flow of concentrated oxygen containing gas to a subject, the system comprising: a subject interface; an oxygen concentrator operatively coupled to the subject interface, the oxygen concentrator configured to provide a flow of concentrated oxygen containing gas to the subject interface via a first conduit; and an aerosol generator operatively coupled to a water supply via a second conduit, the aerosol generator configured to provide a water vapor to the subject interface via the second conduit to humidify the flow of concentrated oxygen containing gas for delivery to the subject.

The present ventilator system, for detecting and treating concurrent chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA event(s)) overlap syndrome, comprises a pressure generator for generating a pressurized flow of breathable gas for delivery to an airway of a subject; sensor(s) for generating output signals conveying information related to breathable gas parameters; and processor(s) operatively connected to the sensor(s) and the pressure generator, configured to: detect presence of OSA event(s) and/or expiratory flow limitation (EFL) in the subject based on the output signals. Responsive to detecting concurrent presence of OSA event(s) and EFL, the processors are configured to determine OSA EVENT(S) therapy parameters for treating the detected OSA event(s) in the subject; determine EFL therapy parameters for treating the detected EFL in the subject; determine a priority treatment based on a comparison between the OSA event(s) therapy parameters and the EFL therapy parameters; and control the pressure generator.

Detecting and treating COPD-OSA overlap syndrome

A system for determining an airway flow value in a patient is provided. The system comprises a computer system that comprises one or more physical processors programmed with computer program instructions which, when executed cause the computer system to obtain, from one or more health monitoring devices, airway pressure information of the patient and airway flow information of the patient; determine an airway flow limitation index from the airway pressure information of the patient and the airway flow information of the patient; and determine the airway flow limitation value for the patient by comparing the determined airway flow limitation index with an airway flow limitation threshold value. The airway flow limitation value indicates a number of breaths of the patient that are flow limited in a given time period.

Determining an airway flow limitation value

In certain embodiments, a ventilator may provide interactive guidance for obtaining a subject's expiratory flow limitation results. In some embodiments, the ventilator may cause a progressive color component to be presented, where the progressive color component indicates a progression from one color proximate one side of the progressive color component to another color proximate another side of the progressive color component. The ventilator may cause a forced oscillation to be continuously applied to an airway of the subject for a time period. The ventilator may monitor the subject's degree of expiratory flow limitation based on output signals generated by one or more sensors as the forced oscillation is continuously applied for the time period. The ventilator may cause, based on the monitoring, a movable component's position on the progressive color component to be continuously updated during the time period to indicate the degree of expiratory flow limitation.

Interactive guidance related to a subject's expiratory flow limitation results

The present disclosure pertains to a system configured to amplify the pressure and/or flow rate of a pressurized flow of breathable gas by entraining oxygen gas and/or ambient air with an air amplifier and a venturi valve at or near a blending gas source, distally (e.g., remotely) from an interface appliance of a subject interface (e.g., away from the face of the subject) to reduce noise from the system heard by the subject. The system is configured to provide this pressure support and/or ventilation with oxygen therapy. The system is configured to deliver ventilatory and/or pressure support with oxygen therapy while decreasing output requirements of the blending gas source and/or pressure generator.

A system for adjusting extrinsic positive end expiratory pressure during an expiratory phase of a ventilator is provided. The system includes a computer system that comprises one or more physical processors programmed with computer program instructions which, when executed cause the computer system to: determine a respiratory reactance from airway flow information of the patient and airway pressure information of the patient, the airway flow information and airway pressure information of the patient being obtained from one or more sensors, and adjust the extrinsic positive end expiratory pressure during the expiratory phase of the ventilator such that the determined respiratory reactance falls within a defined respiratory reactance range.

Auto-adjustment of patient expiratory pressure

An oxygen delivery system provides controlled flow of oxygen-enriched gas to a patient. The system includes one or more sensors configured to measure respiration rate information and heart rate information of the patient. A computer system including one or more physical processors is operatively connected with the sensors. The physical processors are programmed with computer program instructions which, when executed cause the computer system to determine a metabolic oxygen consumption information of the patient from the respiration rate information and the heart rate information from the one or more sensors, and continuously adjust flow, volume and/or pressure of the oxygen-enriched gas delivered from an oxygen source of the oxygen delivery system to the patient based on the determined metabolic oxygen consumption information of the patient.

An improved trash container having a base, a rear partition wall, and a front partition wall hingedly attached to the base to enable the front partition wall to pivot and rotate forward away from the rear partition wall. The trash container further incorporates a bracket member that connects the front partition wall and the rear partition wall, enabling the front partition wall to transition amongst a closed position, an extended position and a releasing position. In a closed position, the base, front partition wall and rear partition wall are connectively aligned and together define an internal cavity for holding a trash bag. In an extended position, the front partition wall is pivoted forward of said base and separated from direct contact with the rear partition wall to enable efficient and hassle-free removal of a filled trash bag from the container.

The present invention describes systems and methods to provide variable flow oxygen therapy. An exemplary embodiment of the present invention provides a method of oxygen therapy involving delivering oxygen-enriched gas to a patient during a first portion of a breathing cycle at a first flow rate. Furthermore, the method of oxygen therapy involves delivering oxygen-enriched gas to the patient during a second portion of the breathing cycle at a second flow rate, where the second flow rate is greater than zero and less than the first flow rate.

Variable flow oxygen therapy

A differential pressure flow sensor that includes a plurality of channels divided into multiple sets of channels having different characteristics. Primary channels establish fluid communication between an inlet and an outlet of the flow sensor. Secondary channels establish fluid communication between the inlet and a first pressure port, but not the outlet. Tertiary channels establish fluid communication between the outlet and a second pressure port, but not the inlet. Signals generated at the first and second pressure port are used to determine a rate of flow through of gas through the sensor. Due to the structural features of the device, the phase delay of individual oscillatory flow components compared to corresponding oscillatory pressure components remains substantially constant across a wide range of flow rates.
