A crankcase breathing system () for an internal combustion engine includes at least one oil separating apparatus with a preliminary separator () and a main separator () arranged downstream of the same, with the preliminary separator () including a diffuser () between an inlet () and an outlet () which expands in the direction of flow. In order to achieve high separation rates in the simplest possible way it is provided that the preliminary separator () is arranged integrally with the main separator (), with preferably the preliminary separator () and the main separator () forming a separator unit ().

Crankcase breathing system

The invention relates to a multicylinder internal combustion engine () comprising intake valves and exhaust valves that are provided with at least one additional valve () for each cylinder (C, C, C, C, C, C), a preferably tubular pressure container () with a gas chamber () into which extend ducts () originating from the valves () such that gas can be exchanged between individual cylinders (C, C, C, C, C, C) when the valves () are actuated. The pressure container () is provided with a device () for cooling the quantities of gas exchanged between individual cylinders (C, C, C, C, C, C). In order to increase the cooling capacity, the cooling device () encompasses at least one cooling pipe () which is axially inserted into the pressure container () and is penetrated by coolant. The outer jacket () of the cooling pipe () borders the gas chamber (), the gas that is exchanged between individual cylinders (C, C, C, C, C, C) flowing around said outer jacket ().

A cooling system for an internal combustion engine with two-stage supercharging includes a charge-air line in which is provided a first compressor of a first turbocharger and a second compressor of a second turbocharger downstream of the former, a first charge-air cooler being provided between first and second compressor, and a second charge-air cooler downstream of the second compressor. At least one of the two charge-air coolers is disposed upstream of the coolant cooler as seen in a flow direction of the cooling air, and the second charge-air cooler is disposed above or beside the first charge-air cooler.

Cooling system for an internal combustion engine

An internal combustion engine includes a level plate that is arranged between a cylinder head and a cylinder, is adjacent to a combustion chamber and is provided with at least one opening for at least one inlet valve and/or one outlet valve and/or at least one injection equipment or the like, the plate bordering on a level cylinder head bottom. In order to reduce the introduction of heat into the cylinder head in the easiest possible way, the diameter of the opening is larger than the valve seat for the inlet valve and/or for the outlet valve and the valve seat for the inlet valve and/or for the outlet valve is formed by the cylinder head or by a valve seat ring that is solidly connected thereto.

Internal combustion engine

The invention relates to a multicylinder internal combustion engine with an engine braking system including intake and exhaust valves and at least one additional brake valve for each cylinder, the exhaust valves opening into an exhaust system. Further a preferably tubular pressure reservoir with a pressure regulating valve is provided, into which braking channels departing from the brake valves are leading, so that a gas exchange between the individual cylinders is possible upon actuation of the brake valves.
