Various embodiments of an aquarium and its method of use are disclosed. In some embodiments, the aquarium includes a first container for holding water and fish, plants, and/or other aquatic organism, a second container for collecting dirty water, and a passageway arranged to flush water from the first container to the second container. The passageway is in fluid communication with an outlet of the first container. The second container is arranged to receive the outlet such that fluid flows from the passageway, through the outlet, and into the second container. The outlet may be selectively opened by a user via a valve. Opening the valve causes gravity to flush water and debris from the first container, through the passageway, through the valve and into the second container, where the dirty water can be stored or discarded by disconnecting the second container from the aquarium ad dumping the dirty water.

Aquarium with integrated cleaning system

Filtering device () to draw water from an aquarium and the like and make water circulate inside, including a container () comprising a first housing portion () having a first inlet () and a second inlet () for the entry of water taken from the aquarium into the first housing portion () which is able to contain at least one filter for filtering water, further including a flow control device () having an entry () for taking water from the aquarium and it has two operating positions, a first operating position or filtering position wherein the entry () is in communication with the first inlet (), so that water taken from the aquarium is put into the first housing portion (), passes through the first inlet (), is filtered and then is put back into the aquarium, and a second operating position or cleaning position or backwash position, wherein the entry () is in communication with the second inlet (), water taken from the aquarium enters into the first housing portion () through the second inlet (), so reversing the flow of water inside the first housing portion () and then is discharged so cleaning the filters.

Filtering device for aquariums and the like

Various embodiments of an aquarium and its method of use are disclosed. In some embodiments the aquarium includes a first container including a waste collection area, an outlet, and a conduit fluidly connecting the waste collection area and the outlet. Depending upon the particular embodiment, the aquarium may also include features such as a second container adapted and configured to mate with the first container and receive the outlet such that fluid flows from the waste collection area through the outlet and into the second container when fluid is added above a preselected fluid level. In other related embodiments, the conduit may be formed by first and second portions of the conduit formed in the first container and a separate component.

Aquarium with an integrated cleaning system

A method of forming a structural joint between a first and a second rigid element, the first element having at least one flange extending from a face thereof and having an outer end, the second element having at least one elongate groove which is substantially arcuate in cross-section provided on a face thereof, each groove having opposed edges which define an elongate opening of a dimension to permit entry of a flange into the groove, comprises placing the outer end of at least one flange into the elongate opening of the at least one groove. Then by applying sufficient external force to the first and second elements, relative movement between the elements results and the distance between the opposing faces thereof is decreased, the flange being deformed within the groove to form a portion of a coil therein having a width which is greater than the width of the elongate opening. The degree of coiling of the flange within the groove may be varied along the length of the joint. This method may be used to join a ladder rung to a ladder rail. A structural joint between a first and a second element when formed by the above method.
