A system for serial communication includes a controller, a semiconductor package comprising a plurality of semiconductor die, and a serial interface configured to connect the plurality of semiconductor die to the controller. The serial interface includes a controller-to-package connection and a package-to-controller connection, and the serial interface is configured to employ a signaling protocol using differential data signaling with no separate clock signals.

A system and method for controlling a SSD in response to a power failure event of a main power supply to the SSD. The method includes receiving and storing write commands and associated data payloads for execution on the SSD in volatile memory, detecting the power failure event on the SSD, supplying backup power to the SSD during the power failure event, and executing one or more write commands stored in the volatile memory by storing the associated data payloads in a non-volatile memory on the SSD using the backup power. In response to the execution, removing the one or more write commands from the cache such that one or more unexecuted write commands and the associated data payloads remain in the cache, and storing a list of the one or more unexecuted write commands, but not the associated data payloads, in non-volatile memory using the backup power.

Systems and methods for managing reduced power failure energy requirements on a solid state drive

A solid state drive (SSD) with pseudo-single-level cell (pSLC) caching and a method of caching data in an SSD is disclosed. In one embodiment, the SSD includes a plurality of multibit NAND media devices arranged in one or more channels communicatively coupled to a memory controller. A first portion of the plurality of multibit NAND media devices is configured to operate as a pSLC cache and a second portion of the plurality of multibit NAND media devices is configured to operate as a multibit NAND media storage area. In one embodiment, the pSLC cache comprises a first area for a pSLC write cache and a second area for a pSLC read cache.

Multibit NAND media using pseudo-SLC caching technique

A solid state drive (SSD) with pseudo-single-level cell (pSLC) caching and a method of caching data in an SSD is disclosed. In one embodiment, the SSD includes a plurality of multibit NAND media devices arranged in one or more channels communicatively coupled to a memory controller. The SSD further includes one or more volatile memory devices communicatively coupled to the memory controller, where at least one of the one or more volatile memory devices has a read cache area. A first portion of the plurality of multibit NAND media devices is configured to operate as a pSLC write cache and a second portion of the plurality of multibit NAND media devices is configured to operate as a multibit NAND media storage area.

A mobile device management system is described for managing files that are locally generated or stored on the mobile device in a cloud environment. The mobile device is configured with a phone application module, a menu module, and a web browser module to conduct a backup operation of the files on the mobile device to a cloud through a network. The cloud comprises a web server, an authentication server, and a secure storage for authenticating the mobile user's access to the cloud, and provide a secure connection to backup the files from the mobile device to the secure storage of the cloud. The mobile device can also upload the files from the mobile device to secure storage of the cloud, which alleviates the burden of carrying a large amount of files on the file storage of the mobile device. In the upload operation, the mobile device deletes the files that have been uploaded to the cloud.

Smartphone management system and method

An automatic storm shutter. A shutter is hingeadly attached to a wall over a structure opening. An actuator is attached to the shutter, and releasably engaged with a support, which is rigidly attached to the wall. When external atmospheric pressure descends, as would happen at the approach of a wind storm such as a tornado, gas pressure within the actuator automatically releases the actuator from the support, which permits the shutter to quickly close as urged by gravity, to cover the structure opening and protect it from storm winds. An alternate embodiment is disclosed wherein one or more additional shutters are installed below the automatic storm shutter. The shutters are mutually attached with an elongate member. When the automatic storm shutter automatically closes, so also do the shutters below.

A tornado resistant dome house. The shape of the dome house is a spheroid section, and is given by a formula. The dome house shell is made up of a plurality of tiles formed to conform to the shape of the dome house. The tiles are mutually connected by means of horizontally and vertically disposed elongate members extending through lumens in adjacent tiles. The tiles are also attached to a dome house foundation. The curved, low-profile shape of the house, combined with the mutual attachment of the tiles, and their attachment to the dome house foundation, improves the resistance of the dome house to high winds associated with tornadoes and hurricanes. Adjacent tiles are cushioned by springs, and are maintained in position relative to each other by means of a tongue-in-groove attachment between adjacent tiles.

A fishhook removing apparatus for removing hooks from a fish's mouth. The fishhook removing apparatus includes a fishhook remover comprising a shaft. The shaft includes a first end and a second end. The first end of the shaft includes a bend therein. The bend is positioned generally adjacent to the first end such that a hook portion is defined. A handle member is securably coupled to the shaft.

Freeze damage to pipes containing liquids is accomplished by including in the interior of the pipe an elongated section of tubing sealed at each end and containing internally an inert gas under pressure; a means for attaching one end of the tubing to the pipe to prevent linear axial movement of the tubing and a means at the other end of the tubing to maintain it concentrically within the pipe and to permit safe linear axial expansion of the tubing.
