A cutting guide for trimming the center conductor of a stinger. The cutting guide may include a housing that is adapted to receive the stinger conductor and provide a reference plane for trimming the conductor to a desired length. The housing may include a receiving end for receiving a predetermined portion of the stinger and an exit end through which an excess portion of the conductor protrudes beyond the desired cutting plane. The housing may include a socket having a receiving space for receiving the threads of the conductor and a barrel having a bore through which the stinger extends. Alternative embodiments include a length-adjustable housing and a housing with multiple bore lengths.

Systems and methods for signal conversion with smart multitap are disclosed. Embodiments of the systems can be scalable to model different signal topologies, transmission frequencies, bandwidths, and distances. An exemplary embodiment of the systems and methods includes a fiber optic to RF converter and a smart multitap. Although a fiber optic to RF converter is used in exemplary embodiments throughout the disclosure, conversion between other signal topologies is within the scope of the disclosure. The smart multitap includes a multiple tap for distributing a signal to multiple terminals and a microprocessor to select a particular terminal for a signal. Exemplary embodiments include downstream implementations in which a stream is typically sent from a service provider server to a user. Alternative embodiments include downstream implementations as well as upstream implementations in which a user typically sends a stream to a service provider server.

Included are systems and methods for providing access of test points. An embodiment of a system includes an electrical module including at least one electrical circuit configured to communicate at least one electrical signal, the electrical module further including at least one multiple access test point configured to provide access for measurements of the electrical circuit. Some embodiments include an environmental housing that includes at least one access port, the environmental housing configured to receive the electrical module such that at least one access port provides access to at least one multiple access test point.

In one embodiment a fiber tray include an arrangement of retaining slots configured to receive retaining clips in a variety of different orientations and sizes. Retaining clips may have standardized sizes to correspond with the arrangement of retaining slots and to secure a variety of components to the fiber tray in different locations and orientations. Fiber management means may be provided to guide fiber optic cable from the components in a variety of orientations and locations. The fiber tray may be configured to move between a stowed position within a node housing in which the mounting surface of the tray faces downward and an access position in which the tray faces upward. The tray may be transparent to allow a technician to view the fiber arrangement without moving the tray from the stowed position.

In one embodiment a self-contained seizure mechanism comprises a plunger, a spring, and a retainer guide having means for movably securing the plunger to the retainer guide. The retainer guide may have a receiving slot for receiving wings of the plunger and fingers for retaining the wings to the retainer guide and archways to guide a stinger conductor into contact with a crown of the plunger. The plunger and retainer may be snap-fit together to provide a seizure assembly that may be dropped in a receiving hole of a node housing and positioned to engage a stinger conductor and urge the stinger conductor into contact with a connector button on a lock nut.

A fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) system transmits forward and reverse optical signals, such as video, voice, and data signals, via optical fiber, and includes a plurality of home network units. The home network units include an optical receiver for receiving at least one of the video, voice, and data signals. Included is a plurality of gain stages that are distributed throughout the optical receiver. The gain stages include a preamplifier stage, two interstage amplifiers, and a postamplifier stage. Two gain control circuits automatically adjust the gain of the video signal based upon the input power level to the FTTH optical receiver. Additionally, a tilt network performs level compensation for externally located coaxial cable. A signal is then provided to a device located within a home via the coaxial cable at the proper RF level having low noise signals.

An internal seizure assembly for providing connectivity with a conductor of a stinger without having access to the seizure assembly itself from the exterior. The seizure assembly includes a seizure lock nut for securing the seizure assembly within an opening within the interior of a housing. A seizure holder for receives a plunger therethrough and the plunger urges the conductor of the stinger into electrical contact with the seizure lock nut. In one embodiment, the plunger has an end keyed to the bottom of the opening in the housing to prevent the plunger from turning.

A fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) system transmits forward and reverse optical signals, such as video, voice, and data signals, via optical fiber, and includes a plurality of home network units. The home network units include an FTTH optical receiver for receiving at least one of the video, voice, and data signals. A triplexer distinguishes and separates the video, voice, and data signals, wherein the video signals have a first wavelength and the voice and data signals have a second wavelength. The voice and data signals are provided to the home network unit for further processing. The triplexer provides an electrical signal to the amplifier stages. The amplifier stages include a preamplifier stage and a postamplifier stage. A gain control circuit automatically adjusts the gain of the video signal based upon the input power level to the FTTH optical receiver. Additionally, a tilt network performs level compensation for externally located coaxial cable. A video signal is then provided to a video device located within a home via the coaxial cable.
