A hydraulic mount assembly includes an elastomeric hollow body connected to a pair of opposed mounting members. A one-piece partition cooperates with the body and forms a closed cavity that is filled with a damping fluid. The partition includes a fluid chamber bounded by spaced upper and lower walls. A resilient flange provided around the periphery of the partition reciprocally supports the partition between the mounting members. An orifice track formed in the partition provides fluid communication between the cavity and the fluid chamber.

One-piece partition for a hydraulic engine mount

The hydraulic mount assembly includes a hollow body connected to a pair of mounting members. A resilient diaphragm closes the hollow body thereby forming a closed cavity that is filled with damping liquid. A partition divides the cavity into primary chamber and secondary chambers. An orifice track and a decoupler passage are provided in the partition to communicate with both the primary and secondary chambers. A tiered decoupler is positioned for limited reciprocal movement in the decoupler passage. The tiered decoupler includes a plate, that is received and held for limited reciprocal movement within an annular groove in the partition. A pair of plungers that are interconnected by slide rods extending through apertures in the plate and reciprocate in tandem with respect to the plate. This relative reciprocal movement between the plate and plungers generates laminar flow around the decoupler during transition in response to high frequency vibrations for a reduced dynamic rate and smoother/quieter operation.

Tiered decoupler for improved high frequency tuning of hydraulic mounts

A hydraulic mount assembly includes a pair of mounting members connected together to form a hollow elastomeric body closed by a resilient diaphragm so as to form a cavity for a damping liquid. A partition divides the cavity into a primary chamber formed between the partition and the hollow body and a secondary chamber formed between the partition and the diaphragm. The partition also includes a primary orifice track, a secondary orifice track and a decoupler passage providing fluid communication between the chambers. A first decoupler is mounted for limited reciprocating movement in the decoupler passage. A spring biases the first decoupler to a seated position sealing the passage. A second decoupler is mounted for limited reciprocating movement in the secondary orifice track. The primary orifice track establishes a first resonance frequency for the damping liquid. Similarly, the secondary orifice track establishes second, higher resonance frequency. Further, the force provided by the coil spring against the first decoupler is overcome by fluid pressure at a third resonance frequency higher than that of the second resonance frequency. Together these structures function to provide a rate dip and improved relatively high frequency tuning in a fully passive mount assembly.

Hydraulic mount with spring-loaded decoupler for tuned rate dip

A mount assembly is provided for mounting a component, such as an engine, to a vehicle for active control of vibration. The assembly includes first and second mounting members and, an intermediate insert with first and second elastomeric systems connecting said first and second mounting members with the intermediate insert in between. An actuator in parallel with said first elastomeric system provides vertical force to said first elastomeric system to provide a relatively soft vertical rate. A controller operates the actuator in response to sensed vibration so that the vertical force tends to avoid or cancel it. A relatively high fore/aft and lateral dynamic rate of the first system protects the actuator. The second elastomeric system connects the second mounting member with the intermediate insert and exhibits a relatively high vertical rate and a relatively soft fore/aft and lateral rate. One or more sensors feeds data to a controller that analyzes the vibrations to determine the harmonics thereof. The controller then constructs one or more output waveforms and feeds them to the actuator so that a force is applied across the first elastomeric system between the first mounting member and the intermediate insert, thereby tending to produce the relatively soft vertical rate for component isolation and noise suppression.

Component mount assembly providing active control of vehicle vibration

A hydraulic mount assembly includes an elastomeric hollow body connected to a pair of opposed mounting members. A resilient diaphragm closes the hollow body and forms therewith a closed cavity that is filled with a damping liquid. A partition plate is provided in the hollow body to divide the cavity into a primary chamber and a secondary chamber. The secondary chamber is enclosed by the diaphragm. An orifice track is provided in the partition plate. The orifice track provides communication between the primary and secondary chambers so as to effect damping. Three decouplers are provided in the partition plate centered relative to distinctive dome areas in the primary chamber; two recessed domes and a center projecting dome. The decouplers respond independently to localized dynamic pressure variations. Together, the orifice track and decouplers serve to restrict and control liquid flow between the chambers so as to passively provide a tunable distinctive dip in dynamic rate to adjust the stiffness at selected high frequencies. A relatively low dynamic rate for small displacements is provided at relatively high frequencies while maintaining damping for large displacements.
