A sight assembly for firearms, having a rear bottom sight, and a rear top sight with first and second top faces. Extending from the first and second top faces are first and second rear sight strips respectively. The sight assembly for firearms further has a front bottom sight, and a front top sight with a third top face. Extending from the third top face is a front sight strip. The sight assembly for firearms produces a continuous sight strip when viewing the front sight strip through a notch defined by the rear top sight mounted onto the rear bottom sight when the front sight strip is aligned with first and second rear sight strips.

An improved aerogel and a process for production of the same. The improved aerogel which has a significantly reduced dust (e.g., aerogel fines) and static charge, as compared with conventional aerogel products. The aerogel also has a 'sticky' or 'tacky' nature which can be used to attract any available dust, fines and/or particulate matter and also restrict flowability of aerogel granules, for example, out of a breached container and thereby minimize loss of the aerogel product through any breached opening.

An ambient pressure, low cycle time method for the synthesis and manufacture of a low cost, highly insulting, highly translucent, and low density transition metal-based hydrophilic and hydrophobic nanogel. The important aspects are the method of synthesis, the stage of imparting hydrophobicity, and the process of manufacture. The method comprises the steps of mixing a chilled precursor solution with a chilled catalyst solution such that the mixture has a pH of between 9.5 and 12.2. The mixture is maintained at a temperature of 34&#xb0; F.-55&#xb0; F. for between 1 and 120 minutes to form a gel. The gel is silated the gel for about 120 minutes, washed in a wash fluid, then dried and annealed to form the aerogel.

A kinetically controlled vapor reaction process for synthesizing silica areogel in a reaction container by injection of a precursor reagent vapor, a catalyst reagent vapor, super saturated steam as a component of the catalyst solution, and a hydrophobic reagent vapor amd continuously mixing vapor droplets of the precursor, catalyst and water reagents in a super saturated state to continuously nucleate in a hydrolysis/poly-condensation reaction and deposit as silica aerogel.

A simple, relatively low cost system for sealing an ordinary roller shade with respect to the window frame sides, top and bottom is provided. The roller shade seal system essentially comprises a pair of edge seal assemblies in the form of elongate mounting strip members adapted to be permanently mounted to opposite vertical faces of the window frame trim, and a pair of sealing strip members in the form of elongate, generally U-shaped channels adapted to sealably engage the latter edges of the shade, releasably mounted to an associated mounting strip. The window shade sealing system is completed by a shade bottom edge seal comprising a rigid bottom strip reinforcing member, a sill sealing strip and a shade top sealing member.
