A sheet metal seal (42) provides both radial and axial sealing of the gap (34) formed between adjacent blade platforms (30, 32) in a rotor assembly (10) of a turbomachine.

The anti-rotational breach lock comprises a full ring of equally spaced dogs slideably engaging complementary lugs extending from the disk restrain the blades axially. A key fits any space between lugs and has an in situ bent tab nested between the key and ring that engages the back and front end of the ring to lock the key into place. Because the key can fit anywhere around the circumference of the disk and as many keys as spaces can be deployed, the key may serve to balance the rotor.

The cover plates defining windage covers adjacent the broached rim of the turbine disk has the dual function of insulating the disk rim by defining a gap between the rim and turbine blades for receiving cooler air and insulating the disk from the gas path resulting in a cooler disk.

Turbine cover-seal assembly

The sole support for the rear disk rim side plate of the 1st turbine stage is the seal extending between the 1st and 2nd stage turbines. The fir tree broach on the side plate fits into the broached rim of the turbine disk which is extended axially to radially restrain each side plate. This configuration eliminates the heretofore used bolts and nuts or rivets.
