A method and apparatus are provided for sorting items to a plurality of sort destinations. The items are fed into the apparatus at an input station having a scanning station. The scanning station evaluates one or more characteristics of each item. The items are then loaded onto one of a plurality of independently controlled delivery vehicles. The delivery vehicles are individually driven to sort destinations. Once at the appropriate sort destination, the delivery vehicle ejects the item to the sort destination and returns to receive another item to be delivered. A re-induction conveyor may be provided for receiving select items from the vehicles and conveying the items back to the input station for re-processing. Additionally, a controller is provided to control the movement of the vehicles based on a characteristic each item being delivered by each vehicle.

Material handling apparatus and method for sorting items using a dynamically configurable sorting array

A forcible entry tool apparatus is provided for use by firemen and the like for forcible entry into vehicles or structures to assist in rescue operations. The tool has a base with a prying foot movably attached to the base with a pin acting as a fulcrum point for movement of the prying foot. The handle is attached to the prying foot for moving the prying foot on the lever pin on the base and a stabilizing arm is removably attachable to the foot for bracing the foot while the handle is being operated to move the prying foot on the fulcrum pin. Both the handle and the stabilizing arm are telescoping members. The stabilizing arm has a bracing foot attached to one end and is attached to the base with a positioning bracket. The prying foot can have the fulcrum pin positioned at different points for different operations and the handle can be positioned in different positions relative to the foot for proper leverage for prying open doors and the like. The base may also have a striking plate formed thereon, as well as gripping teeth.

Forcible entry tool

A toilet backflow preventing valve and toilet bowl support for mounting between a standard soil pipe mounting flange and drain horn of a standard toilet bowl supports the toilet bowl closely adjacent the floor level, receives standard toilet bolts clamping the valve between the toilet bowl and the soil pipe and has a manually actuated slide with an open position that does not obstruct flow and a closed position sealing the soil pipe to prevent blackflow into the toilet bowl. A feature includes O-ring seals for the opposite faces of the slide and relative rotation of the slide and seals to facilitate the sliding action without damaging the seals.
