A space conditioning system and method for monitoring electrical parameters and/or thermodynamic parameters relating to the heat of extraction/rejection or power consumption of the system and to communicate the monitored parameters to an external device.

Space conditioning control and monitoring method and system

A heat pump system provides at least six modes of heating, cooling, and/or domestic water heating operation, where domestic water heating may occur concurrently with heating or cooling a space in a structure. The heat pump system comprises a desuperheater positioned downstream of the compressor and operable as a desuperheater, a condenser or an evaporator, a source heat exchanger operable as either a condenser or an evaporator, a load heat exchanger operable as either a condenser or an evaporator, a reversing valve positioned downstream of the desuperheater heat exchanger and configured to alternately direct refrigerant flow from the desuperheater heat exchanger to one of the load heat exchanger and the source heat exchanger and to alternately return refrigerant flow from the other of the load heat exchanger and the source heat exchanger to the compressor, and an expansion valve positioned between the load heat exchanger and the source heat exchanger.

Integrated demand water heating using a capacity modulated heat pump with desuperheater

An air conditioning system can be toggled between a heating mode, in which heat is withdrawn from a source (e.g., a geothermal source) and deposited into a conditioned space (e.g., a building), and a cooling mode, in which heat is withdrawn from the conditioned space and deposited into the source. The air conditioning system uses a combination of efficiency-enhancing technologies, including injection of superheated vapor into the system's compressor from an economizer circuit, adjustable compressor speed, the use of one or coaxial heat exchangers and the use of electronic expansion valves that are continuously adjustable from a fully closed to various open positions. A controller may be used to control the system for optimal performance in both the heating and cooling modes, such as by disabling the economizer circuit and vapor injection when the system is in the cooling mode.

A control method for a space conditioning system operable with a stages thermostat, the method including: powering a control module comprising including an output terminal, a first input terminal, a second input terminal, and control logic; detecting receipt of the first input signal at the first input terminal; responsive to detecting receipt of the first input signal, outputting a first value of the plurality of values, the first value corresponding to the first input signal; after outputting the first value, outputting one or more values of the plurality of values, the one or more values being larger than the first value; detecting receipt of the second input signal at the second input terminal; and responsive to detecting receipt of the second input signal, outputting a second value of the plurality of values, the second value corresponding to the second input signal.

Stepped staged control of a variable capacity compressor

A microprocessor based control system monitors and controls a heat pump water heater system and interfaces the water heating system with an external centralized control system. The microprocessor control system includes sensors, safety switches, device interface relays, user interface devices and precanned software to provide versatile monitoring and control over a heat pump type water heating system. The system generally involves a typical heat pump coupled with a domestic water heater, hot water retention tank or other body of water. The control system provides operational control over the heat pump to maintain the hot water stored in the domestic water heater in a predetermined setpoint and controls the use of electric resistance heating elements in the domestic water heater for added heating capacity for quick heat recovery type operation. The control system receives a centralized signal typically from a utility company to disable heat pump water heating operation during peak demand time periods. Control logic is provided to carry out effective liming parameter control, high evaporator temperature control, and defrost/anti-freeze protection control.

Microprocessor control for a heat pump water heater

A hot water heat pump is coupled to a primary liquid heat source, typically an earth coupled closed loop system, and a hot water retention tank. The hot water heat pump extracts heat from the liquid heat source and gives off heat to water stored in the hot water retention tank. A coupling device is connected to the liquid heat source conduit for diverting liquid heat source flow to the hot water heat pump. A dedicated liquid heat source pump maintains liquid heat source flow through a first heat exchanger in the domestic hot water heat pump independent of primary heat, source operation. Refrigerant flows through both the first heat exchanger and a second heat exchanger. Water stored in the retention tank is circulated by the dedicated hot water circulating pump through the second heat exchanger thereby removing heat from the refrigerant. The stored water is typically used for domestic hot water supply.

A traction device for use in extracting mired dual wheeled vehicles from a mired condition comprising a block assembly having a plurality of tower members for attachment to and between the wheels of the mired vehicle and a plate assembly for operative engagement by a rotating block assembly to move the mired vehicle to a freed location. The tower assemblies can be quickly dismantled to a transportable size, and readily assembled and installed for needed operation.

A chest is contoured and dimensioned for nesting in the compartment. A foldable table top folds about the chest in the nesting position of the latter. A collapsible leg assembly is dimensioned for storage in the compartment. Fastening means releasably fasten the table top in its opened out use position to the leg assembly in its extended use position. Attaching means releasably attach the bench in an upright, use position to selected ones of the legs of the leg assembly in their extended use position.
