A method for extrapolating the far field signature of a seismic sound source array from near field measurements, by taking into consideration, the instantaneous firing and environmental parameters that exist locally for each individual sound source in the array.

Real-time simulation of the far-field signature of a seismic sound

A utility cart particularly suited for transporting large heavy loads over rough terrain. The cart has a knock-down construction enabling it to be conveniently disassembled for storage and subsequently re-assembled for use. The knocked-down parts are a basket, two wheels, and a combination operating handle and strut assembly. The basket is fabricated from tubular electrical conduit to comprise a rectangular perimeter frame whose longer sides are spanned by a series of transverse members which are of depressed shape to form the sides and bottom of the basket. The wheels mount on opposite sides of the basket to provide a road clearance greater than the wheel radius. The operating handle and strut assembly mounts on the basket at one lengthwise end by means of removable pin connections. The strut is operable on the assembly to a stowed position and to a ground-engaging support position. An optional removable liner for the basket is also disclosed.

Knock-down utility cart

A ship is provided with booms that may be extended outwardly from the ship. Arrays of geophysical devices of different genera are towed from the booms, in the water behind the ship. A UHF antenna is located on each boom. A line joining the two antennas defines a long reference base line for determining the absolute heading of the ship with respect to a meridian and to locate the absolute positions of selected towed geophysical devices with respect to two-dimensional space. The booms may be oriented along a line perpendicular to the ship's track, independently of the ship's heading for the purpose of maintaining the integrity of the geometric pattern of the arrays of the towed geophysical devices.

Apparatus for towing arrays of geophysical devices

A ship is provided with booms that may be extended outwardly from the ship. Geophysical devices of different genera are towed from the booms, in the water behind the ship. A UHF antenna is located at the outboard tip of each boom. A line joining the two antennas defines a long reference base line for determining the absolute heading of the ship with respect to a meridian and to locate the absolute positions of selected towed geophysical devices with respect to two-dimensional space. The booms may be automatically oriented along a line perpendicular to the ship's track, independently of the ship's heading.

A valve for a flow regulator employed in a fluid system is disclosed. The flow regulator includes a housing defining an internal chamber and a fluid inlet and outlet communicating with the chamber each adapted to be connected to the fluid system. Mounted within the chamber is a reciprocating piston that is actuated by an external master piston. A backing element is also mounted within the housing. The valve includes an elastomeric inner member including a body with a circumferential layer of elastomeric material bonded to the body. The inner member is mounted between the piston and stationary backing member and upon being compressed by the piston, varies the flow area through the inner chamber. To protect the interface of the outer layer and the body from fluid flow, a shield may be placed along the backing member and the upstream end of the inner member.

A pump for injecting metered amounts of liquid into a line or a conduit, which includes a reciprocating pumping piston in a cylindrical chamber having an inlet and an outlet, both of which are controlled by check valves, wherein the pumping piston is driven by a pneumatic motor of the reciprocating type and having a cylinder in which is located a power piston that is suitably connected to the pumping piston. A switching valve assembly is provided for controlling a supply of power gas or air to the pneumatic motor and which responds to the movement of the pumping and power pistons for effecting reciprocal movement of the pistons.

A coupling device for coupling two rigid, elongated reciprocating elements while maintaining contact between the elements and eliminating relative longitudinal movement includes a hemispherically faced connector head connected to one of the elements. The coupling device further includes a retainer connected to the other of said elements into which the head is positioned. The connector head is contained in the retainer by a retaining member and biased against a bearing within the retainer by a plurality of Belleville washers. The force developed by the washers is sufficient to maintain the hemispherically faced connector head in contact with the connector bearing to insure that the connector head and bearing do not separate relative to each other during reciprocation of the rigid elements.
