A coloring system for temporarily or permanently dyeing fibers uses polyhydric alcohols to soften starch and cellulose derivatives in an organic acid solution to form glycolate modofied derivatives. Hydrophobic pigment particles are mixed with the glycolate modified derivatives after reducing the acidity of the solution with a base, resulting in a water removable temporary dye system that may be converted into a permanent dye by adding a latex suspension.

Pigment agglomerate coloring system

An unsupported decorative film of a polymeric composition having controlled permanent tack, the polymeric composition being a blend of 86 to 88% of a polyvinyl acetate-acrylic copolymer of high molecular weight and low residual tack and 12 to 14% of a polyvinyl acetate-maleate copolymer of low molecular weight and high residual tack. Other chemicals may be added to the blend to control color, viscosity and resistance to microorganisms. A casted film of this composition adheres to most surfaces, but may be forcefully removed and relocated. The film is used for decorative art pieces.

High molecular weight vinyl acrylic combined with low molecular weight

Disclosed herein are aqueous dispersions of blocked hydrophilic polyether urethane prepolymers and codispersions thereof with synthetic polymer latices. Also disclosed are methods of preparing the dispersions as well as polyurethane coatings and films prepared therewith. The dispersion/codispersions are characterized by good mechanical stability and resistance to freeze - thaw cycles. Coatings, films and impregnated articles prepared therefrom possess good physical properties. Coatings and films prepared from codispersions containing acrylic latex possess physical properties, chemical solvent resistance, etc. comparable to solvent-based urethanes.

Aqueous urethane codispersions

An expandable chemical coating compounded by an admixture of a paint, ink or dye with a polymeric composition embodying an encapsulation of a volatile, gas-producing substance which is heat-expandable in a thin polymeric film, said capsules being dispersed in a polymeric composition such that upon application of heat, the encapsulated volatile substance vaporizes to expand and fracture said capsule, thereby trapping the evolving gas in a polymeric medium so that the medium coating is expanded to produce a three-dimensional effect.

Expandable polymeric coating compositions

A polymeric molding composition from water soluble compounds admixed from a two part wet phase and dry phase combination comprised from the interaction by nucleophilic substitution of an hydroxyl group of an alcohol, having more than one functional hydroxyl group, by a polymeric compound or by a polymeric hydroxyl compound hydrolyzed in a water solution wherein each monomer has an alkyl hydroxyl group, an hydroxyl group or other functional group capable of forming an alkoxide by means of the action of an alkaline earth metal salt electrolytic initiator to provide a self sustaining ionic reaction to create a fast forming polymeric composition which has an initial quick set time to form a flowable gel-like mass and which has a delayed set time to form a rigid non-sticky durable product. The dry phase includes a water solubilizing powder capable of forming a gel and the electrolytic initiator. The wet phase includes water as the solubilizing medium and a water soluble gel modifying substance.
