System to correct the trajectory of a projectile

The system comprises a laser transmitter/receiver set which transmits laser radiation and processes the radiation received by retro-reflection and a remotely-placed retro-reflecting and modulating set which modulates the laser radiation and sends it back to the receiver. These two sets are mechanically separated, and one can be placed on board an aircraft and the other on the ground, for example. The modulation is done by a frequency-controlled acousto-optical deflector to obtained the operating conditions of diffraction according to Bragg's law. The laser radiation, after crossing the deflector, is sent back by a catadioptric device along its original path. The double passage through the deflector, on the way out and back, produces a shift in the frequency of the laser radiation, the value of the said shift being equal to twice the control frequency of the deflector. A double axis or single axis optical scanning device is added on, for functioning in a wide field.

Identification system using a laser retro-reflecting and modulating set

A method and device are provided for assisting in height holding in air navigation, consisting, for any point (M) of the image of the landscape flown over by the aircraft (A), located by its angle of elevation (.theta.-p) with respect to the speed vector V of the aircraft, and situated in a zone between a lower elevational limit (.theta..sub.1 -p) and an upper elevational limit (.theta..sub.2 -p), in the trajectory of the aircraft, in detecting a possible deviation between the angular speed .OMEGA. of movement of this point with respect to the aircraft, depending on the height (h,H) of subsequent crossing of this point by the aircraft, for identical piloting conditions, and an angular reference speed of movement (.OMEGA..sub.o) corresponding to a reference height (h.sub.o,H.sub.o) of subsequent crossing by the aircraft of a point having the same elevation (.theta.-p), for identical piloting conditions, and in modifying the piloting of the aircraft, should a deviation between these angular speeds of movement be detected, so as to reduce these deviations.

Method and device for assisting height holding in air navigation

An airborne system for the electrooptical detection, location and omnidirectional tracking of a target has an input objective lens carried by a universal joint, whereof one frame is rotated circularly in azimuth and the second frame moves the optic in elevation. An image offsetting optical section integral with the universal joint maintains the image centering through the detection plane, the detector being fixed. The image offsetting optical section is catadioptric and has an input mirror integral with the objective lens, and an output mirror integral with the first frame and which reflects the radiation along the circular rotation axis. The input objective lens focuses the radiation in an image plane located on the optical path between two mirrors, and a second optical objective lens, re-forms the field image in the detection plane.

The rotary-joint device has the design function of maintaining accurate positioning of the ends of optical fiber conductors during relative rotation of external bodies to which the joint is coupled. The device comprises a male ferrule and a female ferrule so arranged as to form a shaft rotatably mounted within a sleeve with a close but compliant fit, an abutment device for limiting the axial displacement of the sleeve, means for centering the ends of the conductors, and means for securing said ferrules to external connector bodies so as to form a rigid coupling and a semi-rigid coupling respectively.

Rotary-joint device providing for an optical waveguide transmission

The system enables aircraft movements on runways and taxiways to be guided and a corresponding ground traffic to be controlled. It comprises sensors for detecting pressure variations and which are distributed at known intervals along the routes, each sensor having four linear arms arranged in pairs on both sides of the axis of the route in such a way that the items of data corresponding to the respective times at which the lateral wheels of the aircraft cross them enable, by means of a simple calculation performed by electronic processing of the detected signals, guidance and control instructions to be produced which include: heading deviation (.DELTA. C), speed (V) together with its direction, and lateral deviation (.DELTA. E) and in addition, instructions or orders such as changes of heading, changes of speed, emergency stops and runway turn-offs.

System for controlling ground movements on airfields

A radiant energy detection system which allows angular location in bearing and elevation by using a simple detector element and a static mask preferably formed by a PLZT strip between two intersecting polarizers. A control circuit operates the mask to provide a configuration having a transparent zone equal to n measurement quadrants (n being a whole number equal to 1, 2 or 3) and an opaque zone equal to the remaining 4-n quadrants, and to bring about four successive operating states which are distinguished one from the next by an angular displacement of .pi./2 radians around the optical axis. The control circuit operates further a switching circuit synchronously with the mask to connect the output of the detector successively to four reception channels each of which includes a high speed memory. A measuring circuit calculates the angular location from the four detected signal values stored in the memory.
