The embodiments herein relate to a method performed by an AAA server () for enabling a non-SIM device () to access a first network () via a second network (). Based on a request for authorization to the first network () from the non-SIM device (), the AAA server () obtains an identity associated with the non-SIM device (). The AAA server () transmits a request for a user profile associated with a user of the non-SIM device () to the subscriber database (). The request comprises the obtained identity for the non-SIM device (). The AAA server () receives, from the subscriber database (), the requested user profile for the non-SIM device (). Based on the received user profile, the AAA server () authorizes the non-SIM device () to access the first network () via the second network ().

Wi-Fi integration for non-SIM devices

The present invention is aimed to carry out an effective handover between a first and a second serving call control servers in order to fit suitable server capabilities for servicing a user, as well as to provide a mechanism whereby a subscriber server may upgrade the selection criteria for assigning the second serving call control server. Therefore, the present invention provides a new method and enhanced servers for re-assigning the second serving call control server, whereby the still ongoing sessions for the user in the first serving call control server are kept alive, and where a serving call control server is arranged to report towards the subscriber server what portions of a user profile are not understood or not supported at said serving call control server.

An efficient interface for service exchange is provided between a circuit-switched communications network and a domain naming system (DNS) in a packet-switched communications network. A node in the circuit-switched communications network receives from a first entity a request for a first service involving a second entity associated with a second entity identifier. A message is sent from the circuit-switched network node to a DNS server in the packet-switched network requesting a second service related to the second entity identifier. The result of the second service from the DNS server is used in providing the first service.

Method and apparatus to carry out resolution of entity identifier in circuit-switched networks by using a domain name system

In a telecommunication network a subscriber connected to an originating local exchange requests activation of a supplementary service. The supplementary service establishes an end-to-end TC-dialogue with a corresponding supplementary service of a destination local exchange. The TC-dialogue terminates the request on an interfering telecommunication service in an intermediate node. For preventing service operation failure in case of interaction between the supplementary service and the interfering telecommunication service, a relay link is established between an incoming TC-dialogue and an outgoing TC-dialogue at the intermediate node to realize a chain of end-to-end TC-dialogues between the originating exchange and the destination exchange, while using a transparent relay functionality independent of utilizing TCAP based supplementary service ASEs as intermediate nodes. The handling and continuity of the chained dialogues is differentiated based on the effect of the interaction caused by the interfering telecommunication service.

Method and a system for use in a telecommunications network

A generic service coordination mechanism solves feasible service interaction problems taking into account real-time processing constraints within telecommunication networks. The coordination mechanism limits service interaction complexity within an active basic call by preventing interactive service accessibility as early as possible following the request of a new service. Data defined on the basis of a general allocation, an individual subscriber allocation, and a service allocation is manipulated during provision and withdrawal, activation and deactivation, and invocation and operation of service procedures. Requests to initiate, read, change, or erase subscription and interaction data are processed internally according to a coordinator state machine. Requests are terminated by a response which includes a decision to continue basic call processing and service processing based on allocated services and encountered service interaction criteria such as restriction or dependency criteria.

Generic service coordination mechanism for solving supplementary service

A user authentication service is disclosed which is both highly secure and user friendly. To access a particular service, a user simply enters a personal identification type number (PIN) using a portable terminal device which encodes the PIN. More specifically, a character position of the user's PIN is determined, and a random code having a length selectable at each service transaction by the user is generated. The user's PIN is encrypted using one of plural available, pseudo-randomly encrypting algorithms to provide an encrypted PIN. The encrypted PIN is then combined with the code at the determined position before being transmitted over a communications network. When received, the encoded PIN is decoded using an analogous procedure to determine if the user is authorized. A plurality of security levels are provided with each level having a plurality of encryption algorithms and with each increasing level providing encryption algorithms of increasing complexity and sophistication. A user may also change a current PIN from the portable device easily and securely without having to contact a service center.
