The present invention provides an improved fire resistant composite pole and a method for producing the same. In accordance with preferred embodiments, the composite utility pole of the present invention includes a composite structure having integrally bonded layers of resin impregnated fiberglass extending along the length of the pole. According to a preferred embodiment, the composite structure of the pole includes an intumescent layer which includes: high temperature mineral fibers, exfoliating graphite, organic binders. and alumina trihydrate (ATH).

The present invention provides an improved fire resistant distribution pole and a method of installing the fireproof distribution pole. According to a preferred embodiment, the present invention includes a hollow, tapered main body which includes an intumescent veil layer. According to a further preferred embodiment, the intumescent veil layer includes a single layer of 1-2 mm thick intumescent material which extends from substantially 1 foot below grade level to 12-18 feet above grade level.

The present invention provides a light weight, composite wall system. According to a preferred embodiment, the present invention includes a sound absorbing wall assembly system which includes a wall beam with detachably mounted wall panels. According to further aspects of the present invention, the wall beam preferably includes an upper surface, a lower surface and a back beam surface which is connected between the upper and lower surfaces. According to further aspects of the present invention, the upper surface of the wall beam includes a corrugated rib and an upper connecting flange, and the lower surface includes a lower corrugated rib and a lower connecting flange.

The present invention provides fire protection for pole access points and pole interiors. In accordance with preferred embodiments, the present invention provides a fireproof hole plug assembly which includes an intumescent gasket and a securing fireproof hole plug. According to further preferred embodiments, the intumescent gasket of the present invention is preferably cut to fit the fireproof hole plug and positioned to act as a barrier between the access point and external heat sources.
