The invention pertains to rendering of image data for a multi-view display, such as image data for a lenticular auto-stereoscopic display. The method comprising the steps of providing view-dependent image data for an image, determining a view-dependent intensity function, or luminance function, for the image, applying a spatial filtering to a view-dependent coordinate of the intensity function, the spatial filtering being such as a low-pass filter, a high-pass filter or a combination of a low-pass and a high-pass filter, and sampling the view-dependent intensity function to a plurality of sub-images, each sub-image being associated with a view-direction of the image.

Rendering of image data for multi-view display

A multiview display device displays multiple views having respective viewing angles related to an object to be displayed. The display device includes an optical device for displaying multiple viewing cones. A first cone of the multiple viewing cones has different views so that a different view is observed by a right eye and a left eye of a viewer of the multiview display device. The different views of the first cone have an angular distribution relative to the display device, where sets of image data are provided such that the angular distribution has a first part of adjacent views with increasing viewing angle and a second part of adjacent views with decreasing viewing angle. Further, the angular distribution has a first one of the views in between a maximum view which corresponds to a maximum viewing angle and a minimum view which corresponds to a minimum viewing angle.

Multiview display device

Light-emitting devices () and methods for operating light-emitting devices are disclosed. Each of the light-emitting devices () comprises a plurality of light sources (A-F) for illuminating a target (), wherein each of the light sources is configured to emit light within a predetermined color range. Each of the light-emitting devices comprises means () for automatically adjusting the spectral power distribution of light-emitted by the light-emitting device on basis of the color of the target or a region of the target illuminated by the light-emitting device, such that light emitted by the light-emitting device is made increasingly compliant or even compliant with a criteria of a predetermined color characteristics.

Light system for emphasizing objects

A method of processing an image signal comprising image and depth information is provided. The method is configured to perform segmentation on an image based on depth/disparity information present in the image signal comprising said image, and subsequently inpaint background for correction of the errors in the image around the foreground objects into a region that extends beyond the segment boundary of the foreground object and/or inpaint foreground for correction of errors in the image into a region that extends inside the segment boundary of the foreground object. In this way compression and other artifacts may be reduced.

Use of inpainting techniques for image correction

An autostereoscopic display device comprising a view forming module in registration with an image forming means. The image forming means has an orthogonal array of display pixels spatially defined by an opaque matrix. The view forming module provides at least two optical functions, namely a view forming function and a brightness non-uniformity reducing function. The view forming function modifies the direction of outputs of the display pixels such that the outputs of groups of the display pixels are projected in respective different directions as a plurality of views. The brightness non-uniformity reducing function spreads the outputs of the display pixels.

Autostereoscopic display device

A method of up-scaling a first structure of samples representing a first property, the first structure having a source resolution, into a second structure of samples representing the first property, the second structure having a target resolution, on basis of a third structure of samples representing a second property, the third structure having the source resolution and on basis of a fourth structure of samples representing the second property, the fourth structure of samples having the target resolution, the method comprising: assigning weight factors to respective first samples of the first structure of samples on basis of differences between respective third samples of the third structure of samples and fourth samples of the fourth structure of samples; and computing the second samples of the second structure of samples on basis of the first samples of the first structure of samples and the respective weight factors.

Up-scaling

A method of computing a display value to be provided to a stereoscopic display apparatus () is described. The method includes: determining a first intermediate value () from a 3-D representation on basis of a first one of the angular directions and coordinates of a first one of the picture elements (); determining a second intermediate value () from the 3-D representation on basis of a further angular direction relative to the first plane and the coordinates of the first one of the picture elements; and combining the first intermediate value () and the second intermediate value () to the display value, the display value related to the particular output of a first one of the picture elements of the stereoscopic display apparatus ().

Stereoscopic display apparatus

A method and apparatus for rendering image data on a 3D display is disclosed. A first image signal is received and then at least one colour component of the first image signal is rendered in reduced spatial resolution to produce a second image signal. The second image signal is spatial filtered wherein spatial errors and view errors are balanced when reconstructing a full resolution signal for the display.

Cost effective rendering for 3D displays

An image processing system for performing a transformation of an input image associated with an input viewpoint to an output image associated with an output viewpoint. The input image is a pre-filtered 2D representation of 3D objects as seen from the input viewpoint, and comprises for each input pixel an associated input pixel value and an associated input pixel depth. Additional to the input image a hidden image is received, being another 2D representation of the 3D objects and comprising information, which information is occluded from the input viewpoint. The system comprises a video processor being operative to create the output image by transforming each input pixel to a transformed input pixel. The transformation is a function of the input pixel depth. The output image is created, based on the transformed input pixels, using hidden image pixels for filling de-occluded areas and for at least one pixel position adjacent to the de-occluded areas. As a consequence ghost line artifacts, caused by transformation of the pre-filtered input image, are prevented.

Ghost artifact reduction for rendering 2.5D graphics

An image processing system generates an output image from an input image through a depth-dependent transformation. The images are represented as respective pixel arrays. An inputreceives for each input pixel an associated input pixel value and input pixel depth. Each input pixel is associated with a respective reconstruction filter footprint. A video processor create the output pixels by, for each input pixel, transformingthe input pixel to a transformed input pixel as a function of the associated input pixel depth and transforming the associated filter footprint to an transformed filter footprint as a function of the associated input pixel depth. The processor also performs a reconstruction filtering operationon a plurality of the transformed input pixels using the transformed filter footprints. An outputis used for providing the output image for subsequent rendering.
