A transmission for changing rotary motion into angularly reciprocating motion and adapted to be mounted on the output end of a power unit of the type having a rotary drive output and used to drive a tool. The transmission is comprised of a support member, a driving resinous member supported by the support member for rotary motion, and a driven resinous member supported by the support member for reciprocating angular movement by the support member. The transmission subassembly is formed by the driving resinous member, driven resinous member and support member and adapted to be mounted on the output end of the power unit with a rotary drive output mechanically coupled to the driving resinous member. A driving cam surface is disposed on a portion of the driving resinous member. A driven cam surface is disposed on a portion of the driven resinous member. The driving cam surface is in contact with the driven cam surface during at least a portion of the cycle of rotation of the driving cam surface. The driven cam surface is configured and dimensioned to be driven by the driving cam surface in a positive angular direction during one part of the cycle and is driven by the driving cam surface in a negative angular direction during another part of the cycle. Angularly reciprocating motion is thereby imparted to the tool as the driving cam surface and driven cam surface engage each other. The tool is particularly advantageous when used in connection with motorized manicure tools, polishing devices, and dermabrasion devices.

The transmission subassembly is formed by the driving resinous member, driven resinous member and support member and adapted to be mounted on the output end of the dental power unit with a rotary drive output mechanically coupled to the driving resinous member. A driving cam surface is disposed on a portion of the driving resinous member. A driven cam surface is disposed on a portion of the driven resinous member. The driving cam surface is in contact with the driven cam surface during at least a portion of the cycle of rotation of the driving cam surface. The driven cam surface is configured and dimensioned to be driven by the driving cam surface in a positive angular direction during one part of the cycle and is driven by the driving cam surface in a negative angular direction during another part of the cycle. Angularly reciprocating motion is thereby imparted to the dental tool as the driving cam surface and driven cam surface engage each other.

A payout tube assembly for unwinding filamentary material from a wound coil of filamentary material contained in a container having a wall panel with a hole for mounting a push-on tube and locking collar on the container wall panel, wherein a hollow payout tube having an end portion extends through the hole, the end portion including a flange extending around the periphery of the tube and having a surface engaging the inner surface of the wall panel surrounding the hole, and further including at least three segmented locking protrusions extending around the periphery of the end portion and separated by spaces; a locking collar for engaging the outer wall of the wall panel and including at least three segmented locking teeth equally spaced substantially around an inner perimeter of the locking collar for engaging with the segmented locking protrusions with pressure exerted on the locking collar to cause the payout tube and the locking collar to be locked together by increased locking forces produced by the three non-opposed locking teeth. The plurality of segmented flexible fingers may be greater than the plurality of segmented locking protrusions to provide additional locking forces between the locking collar and the payout tube. The locking collar may also include at least three segmented locking teeth spaced around an inner perimeter of the second flange for engaging with the segmented locking protrusions with pressure exerted on the locking collar to increase the locking forces produced by the at least three locking teeth.

A home carbonated beverage dispenser includes a transfer valve for conducting carbonated liquid from a carbonation reservoir to an outlet spout. A characterizing feature of the device and of the valve resides in the provision of complemental arcuate guide surfaces on the relatively movable surfaces of the valve which are brought into registry in the dispensing condition of the valve, whereby fluid flow through the valve is effected with a minimum of turbulence. A restrictor orifice is formed at the port, the orifice being defined by arcuate surfaces which mate with and provide a smooth continuation with elements of the movable valve components, thereby further to minimize turbulence and assure minimal loss of carbonation.

An improved home dispenser of carbonated beverages is disclosed, together with a novel actuator valve mechanism. The valve mechanism may be shifted from the non-dispensing to the dispensing mode with minimum of applied force by reason of the interaction between sealing gaskets carried by the valve stem and complemental gasket enveloping skirts formed within the valve, the skirts being calculated to be radially outwardly deformed by pressure applied by the gaskets.

The present invention is directed to a telephone terminal assembly of the type adapted to receive the standard connector plug of a conventional telephone. The device is characterized by the receptor socket for the telephone plug being snap-fittedly mountable in the terminal, the device including locking means for preventing the snap-fitting components from being outwardly deflected, with resultant possible removal of the socket from the terminal device. Preferably the locking means comprises connector terminals emplanted in the base portion of the terminal assembly.

The present invention is directed to an improved polymeric drive mandrel for the insertion of helical thread inserts into complementally tapped bores. The mandrel comprises a generally cylindrical body formed of polymeric material externally threaded for the reception of an insert, known per se, the device being characterized by the provision of a metallic drive blade extending generally axially of the polymeric portion, the drive blade including side edges juxtaposed at or intimately adjacent the roots of the threads at at least the drive end of the mandrel, whereby radial compression of the insert, experienced in the course of the driving thereof, is prevented from damaging the lead thread portions of the mandrel and driving torque is distributed over an extended length of the mandrel.

The present invention is directed to an improved driving mandrel for insertion of spiral thread inserts into complementally tapped bores. The mandrel comprises a generally cylindrical structure having a drive tooth at one end for engagement with the tang of an insert, the device being characterized by its being formed of a resilient polymeric material having rigidifying means located at a zone adjacent the drive end, whereby the body portion of the mandrel beyond the zone is subject to limited deflection under torsional and lateral displacing forces. In accordance with a preferred embodiment, the mandrel includes a readily compressible zone in registry with the trailing end of the insert, whereby the insert may be supported against elongation and yet be free to contract as it is driven into the bore, greatly reducing the possibility of cross threading.
