A computerized power management control system () includes a virtual modular relay device () for providing input and output data to and from a corresponding, actual modular relay device (or). Virtual modular relay device () is displayed in a window (), with the upper left-hand corner of window () including a graphical depiction () of the modular relay device. Immediately below the graphical depiction () is a communications status indicator (), which shows the status of communications (connected/disconnected) between the virtual device () and an inter-process communications server (). Various fields () appear along the left-hand side of window to identify the modular relay unit (or). Below identification fields () are a plurality of buttons (), each of which allow the user to activate a program module. Buttons (and) can be customized by the user to activate any program module. Tabbed pages () allow the user to quickly view numerous functions without cluttering the computer screen. The functions depicted on each of the tabbed pages () are user-defined. A program utility automatically configures the virtual modular relay device () graphic and links the virtual intelligent electronic device () to its actual counterpart (or) so that input and output signals may be sent between the two.

Virtual modular relay device

A power management control system provides control and graphical representation of a plurality of electrical devices and components of an electrical distribution system. The control system includes a virtual three-dimensional annunciator panel for displaying an indication of the status or condition of a plurality a plurality of electrical devices of an electrical distribution system. The virtual annunciator panel includes an array (6&times;8) of indicator buttons that represent a particular device, event or group of events of the PMCS. The buttons are displayed in different colors to indicate different alarm systems. The annunciator panel functions to notify the user/operator of an alarm condition of a device, as well as permits the user to acknowledge alarms. The development of the virtual annunciator panel display is automated using software, namely an Annunciator Panel Wizard. The Panel Wizard provides the automated configuration of the annunciator panel graphic as well as a built-in event mapping to the annunciator buttons which is user configurable. The Panel Wizard allows the user to generate the virtual annunciator panel display without any programming skills or detailed device knowledge.

A power management control system (&ldquo;PMCS&rdquo;) provides control and graphical representation of a plurality of electrical devices and components of an electrical distribution system. The PMCS includes a customized tabular display with database links for viewing selected, metered data provided by various intelligent electronic devices and components of the electrical distribution system. The Custom Table Wizard provides a simple method of selecting and displaying important parameters to the user during operation of the PMCS. The custom table graphic includes approximately 1 to 12 rows of information representative of selected, metered data of the selected device. The development of a custom table display is automated using software, namely a Custom Table Wizard. The Custom Table Wizard automates the configuration of the customized tabular display, which is user configurable, and thereby enables the integrator to generate a tabular data interface quickly without programming skills. The Custom Table Wizard is also file driven and therefore, a new device and its associated tag information may be added by simply editing the associated files. The Custom Table Wizard also allows editing of data descriptions and units, thereby allowing wizard to be used in international language applications.

A three dimensional power management control system provides control and graphical representation of a plurality of electrical devices and components of an electrical distribution system. The PMCS includes a graphical representation of tagout/lockout displays (i.e., Danger and Ground Tags) representative of a physical lockout/tagout tag attached locally to a device of the electrical distribution system. The graphical displays include a large bit map representative of a Danger tag and a Ground Tag installed on a device, and representative symbols displayed at other graphical and tabular data displays associated with the tagged device. The implementation of the virtual lockout/tagout displays is automated using software, namely a Tagging Wizard. The Tagging Wizard provides automated configuration of the lockout/tagout graphic and the ability to install and remove virtual tagout displays associated with the graphical representation of the device of the distribution system. The Tagging Wizard logically links a one-line wizard associated with each graphical and/or tabular representation a common device to a common discrete memory tag for storing the tagged condition of a device. A &ldquo;Tag Menu&rdquo; window includes an install and remove button for each lockout/tagout tag that when selected stores data in the memory tag.
